Hipocricy & lies. As eternal damnation in hell isn't a biblical/christian teaching that has to be part of it. Christendom is so full of hipocricy and non biblical practices that no wonder people are turning away from it.
EG:
Involvement in politics/ war
corruption (involvement with mafia - Vatican)
Permisiveness (ABORTION, HOMSEXUALITY, ADULTERY, CHILD ABUSE, etc. etc. etc)
Pagan originated holidays (christmas, easter, although most people are ready to accept any excuse for a holiday)
On what are the churches teachings based? Gods or mans? 2 timothy 3:16; Mark 7:7
Do they teach Gods name? (God or Lord are titles, not names) John 17:6
Is true faith in Jesus Christ being demondtrated? John 3:36. True religion has faith accompanied by works James 2:26
Is it largelyu ritualistic, a formality, or is it a way of life? Isaiah 1:15-17; 1 Corinthians 5:9-13; Ephesians 5:3-5; Galatians 5:22,23
Do it's members truly love one another? John 13:35 (or are they prepared, as history has shown, to fight & kill members of their own church/ religion when they live in other countries or are of a different tribe/race/ nationality)
Is it truly seperate from the world? Jesus said his followers would be no part of the world (ie: politics) John 13;35)
Do it's members actively preach about God's Kingdom worldwide? Mathew 24:14; 10:7,11-13; Acts 5 :42; 20:20
I hope you have a bible & are able to check these scriptures, Sorry, but it would be a lot for me to copy out.
Also check 2 Timothy 3:1-7 (especially v. 4)
I hope you can check all these scriptures

being a good person has nothing to do with going to hell. It is turning to Christ and faith in him and and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. A lot of GOOD people do not know Christ.
Approximately 33% of the world population or 2.1 billion are Christians, Christianity is the world largest religion. It is the predominant religion in the Americas,Europe,Southern Africa, the Philippines and Oceania. It is also growing rapidly in Asia, particularly in China and South Korea, Africa and the Middle East.

2 Timothy 4:3
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."
The Bible fortells of many turning away from God. It's not that God is getting weaker or losing power, but all these things are just more signs of Jesus' final return comming soon! No, I don't know when He'll come back, but I do know that it's sooner then in was yesterday!
Where are their eyes looking to? Jesus, or the world and all its pleasures?

Christianity is a FEAR based religion used to control the masses!!
Because fear is the most productive tool these mind control cults have to win over and keep followers.
Source(s):
Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand.
Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.
If you can't get someone to convert willingly through preaching, fear is the next best tool.
Christianity for instance is based on two principles:
1. If you believe, you will be rewarded with the prospect of an eternity in Heaven when you die.
2. If you don't believe, you will be rewarded with the prospect of an eternity in Hell when you die.
For Christians:
God is all-loving, all-wise and all-merciful, so long as you submit to becoming a slave - salivating and singing heaps of praises on him for all eternity.
Much like an Earthly dictator who rules his subjects under rule of tyranny - submit or suffer.
Two methods in which religion spreads
1)Violence
2)Child Indoctrination

Just fulfilling prophecy. Read the books of Daniel and Revelation. It does not bug Christians because we are soon gonna be outta here! Yippee! Where can I see these polls? BTW: Being a good person is relative e.g. Osama probably thinks that he is a good person and doing the world a favour

I hope you're right. I can't help feeling like there are more Christians in the US than ever, but maybe the vocal ones are just yelling louder than usual. I don't think it's the "burn in Hell" thing as much as it is the fact that there is more information about atheism out there now than in years past. There's an "Atheism" section in many bookstores now. Ten years ago there was no such thing. I honestly believe it's because atheism makes more sense than religion.

It is already prophesied in the Bible that in the last days the numbers of people putting their faith on the Good News of God's Kingdom will shorten. Therefore, this is not a surprise. We are in the right track!

I don't believe this is true It is on the rising and growing every day. There is only one person that was good in God's eyes and he was without sin. That is Christ, so if were in Him we then look good. No Hell.

because the Christians are no different then the culture at large. When Christian Churches offer nothing different than what the world offers than its no surprise that the world rejects them
The Christian Churches that are offering a contrast, that require something of the believers are the ones that are growing significantly.

you actually listen to polls...polls that look at a 1000 people and claim they represent all of the hundreds of millions of people in any given country...?
And what exactly are the standards of a "good person?"
God is good...no human being is "good." No one is righteous, not one. It is why we need a savior, because we all failed. We all broke the Commandments of God and there is only one penalty.
Is telling someone they are about to burn in a fire somehow hateful...I would wager that a person who was about to walk into a burning building would thank you if you told them not to go in. Yet people like to be judgmental of Christians because Christians are supposed to "warn" non-Christians of the fire they are walking in to. How is this wrong...why would this be offensive? I would think it was the most caring and thoughtful thing a person could do.
Jesus Christ went so far beyond just warning us...He went into the fire and burned to death for us...He put out the fire...He paid the penalty we all incurred by our breaking of God's laws, and if we have faith in Him, we are forever saved...an eternal gift of love, freely given by God to mankind.
Perhaps this is why Christianity is less popular in the polling opinion...
Or is it because we believe we are right, as does anyone who believes "anything," whether they realize it or not.
I do not believe Christianity is less popular by any means...certainly dangerous in countries that are antagonistic to the U.S. and of course countries where the very idea of Christianity is antagonistic because they are currently indoctrinated by Islam...but that is nothing new. There are so many churches growing all over the world, especially in countries where persecution is the most violent. It is easy to discover if one would look, instead of listening to flawed and incomplete polling data.
Back to the "good" people idea....what defines a good person? Someone who has never killed, or raped or stolen before? Someone who has lots of friends who say they are a good person? Someone who gives so much of themselves to others that they have no time for anything they want to do? All of the above?
The problem here is that the defining of good is being done through human perception...if God is real, as I believe He is, then "He" is the one to determine the requirements for being good...and what are they = the Commandments of God and every statute that went with them...all 600+.
Obeying His Commandments from the day we are born to the day we die...every one without breaking any...ever.
If someone has ever lied, or stolen or lost their temper, or said something mean to their parents, or loved anything more than God....they are not good. I am not good, and I have many friends who would say I am a good person. That matters not in the end. What God says matters and accordingly is how we are judged.
The only way we are saved from that fate...of paying the penalty of our sins against God, is by God's gift of love to us, in Jesus Christ. Because of John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
If we have faith in His Son, we are saved from that penalty and are rewarded with eternal life in God's Kingdom.
This doesn't seem to be a message that would decrease in popularity in truth...only in the minds of those deceived activists who will do anything to diminish the work of Christians in the world, but we have Christ and nothing will diminish His word.
I pray all really consider this.
Take Care and God Bless!
