I'm 22 and just received my 1st ticket today in 6 years of driving. I made an illegal turn, I turned left instead of the traditional right. I've never had a ticket before and especially one for such a minor infraction of the law. Will this affect my insurance rate?

IT WILL EFFECT YOUR RATES TO SOME DEGREE BUT THE BEST THING FOR YOU IS TO SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE A DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE FOR THIS TICKET.

I UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS IN A DIFFERENT STATE BUT YOU STILL MIGHT BE ABLE TO TAKE IT.

CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND ASK THEM, YOU REALLY HAVE NO CHOICE BECAUSE THEY WILL FIND OUT ANYWAY.

GOOD LUCK.

It probably will, although probably not by a lot; you should be open about it with your insurer and they should be able to tell you whether it will make a difference at your next renewal (or before), and for how many years the effects will persist. Some companies may allow one or two tickets before surcharging. You may want to look around at the deals available before renewing.

Perhaps. I'm not sure what "I turned left instead of the traditional right" means. But you will know at renewal time.
