We as people have such a fear of death, not one of us really KNOWS if there's an afterlife or not and some people spend their life trying to figure out if there really is an afterlife or not...
but we have absolutely no problem showing death in movies or books?
I know when people watch movies, they can watch it disconnected from everything that's going on, they'll feel emotion if it's a sad movie, and scared if it's a horror movie, and overall, it's just a movie right?
How can we feel that way, when we know nothing of death ourselves?
All animals fear death, every species wants to live. I don't care how good a life you've lived, if you were given a chance to live while you were on your deathbed, you'd take it. So no one really wants to die.
How could we possibly portray something that frightening, something that no one wants to experience, something that we have no real knowledge of, like we do in movies/ books?

I know some people claim to have knowledge of the afterlife, and say they've had experiences, but even people who've never had anything to do with death, don't have a problem watching someone die in a movie.
Which brings to mind something else:
Why when someone loses someone, do they still watch movies with people dying? I'm sure some people did, but most don't.

You are too obsessed with death. Don't worry about it. It is a natural part of life. Everyone has to face it somehow, someway, inevitably. Life is hard, it is harder in life that it is in death. When you die, that's it....your body is gone. your spirit will carry on and who knows where it will end up,,,,no one does. There are people in this world that are born with handicaps, others become handicapped or terminally sick, still others get into horrific accidents where they are maimed for life, think about it. Everyone has a unique perceptiion of death, I bet those guys on death row have a very real perception of it. But in a sense, we are all in death row.....we are all just waiting for our time to face the reaper, whether we do it consciously or unconsciously, we all know that death is a certain thing. Don't be afraid of death, the Mexican People in Mexico have a day to celebrate death.... "El Dia de los Muertos" where they dedicate the entire day to "Muerte", "Death". This may sound like a weird thing to do, but is it really?

Tone and storytelling have their way here, as a story does possess a power to enthrall and it does permit the suspension of normal modes of reality and emotion. We may be able to draw parallels between the events in a story and our own experiences, but that does not connect our pain to all pain, or permit us to comprehend the entirety of the enormous, unknowable subject of death as a whole.
That, and most comedy springs from misfortune, and it's just not practical to cut out completely such a vital half of drama.

Unlike what many people say, death is UNnatural. Adam and Eve wouldnt have died if they didnt sin. The body is in a state of aging, getting worse, rotting...this is UNnatural. We have no need to fear because we have God's promise that one day things will be reconciled and the earth will be restored. We will live forever one day in health, youth and eternity. We can feel faith and secureness in this promise.

I see your point, many movies portray death and almost nothing. I agree no one really wants to die, but Jesus promises us paridise when we do. I dont want to die, but I am not to afraid if I do.
But movies also in my opinion should show reality. A war movie would suck if everyone lived.

As a Christian i know what is after death it is either Heaven or hell (also called hades) .allow me to try explain heaven and hades.
Heaven:it is how death will be if you put your faith in Jesus.you will truly rest with Jesus.
Hades:it is how life will be if Jesus did not come to earth and be crucified by the Jews.it is eternal fire i am not even curios about it.
