so many people ditch things that they do not know or understand why I will never know and to say something against one thing or another with out studying it is wrong the only way you could say any thing about satanism is to read the satanic bible

It's a real shame, too - if they'd actually take the time to read the Satanic Bible, they'd see how it's every bit as silly as any other bible. Sure, it's got grains of insight here and there - like any other scripture, but it's mostly schlock.

ADDENDUM: mschmitz4546: Sounds to me like a great way to not have to actually do any research or learning about something you claim is evil.

I think LaVey's Bible is a well written piece of work. You can barely say it's every bit as foolish as other Bibles, because religious propaganda is the same no matter what, and if you don't believe in what it preaches, you're going to look down on it. We are, as humans, very narrowminded and ignorant. As a LaVeyan Satanist, I think the reason so many Christians freak out is because the word "Satan" was used to describe this religion for precisely that purpose. The idea was to lash out against the churches for their own justified evils by having a contradiction that was every bit legit. Christians, to be completely honest, are possibly the most impossible people to work with. They are so incredibly brainwashed, they refuse to see reason or logic. Their argument? "It's either my way, or the wrong way." But isn't everybody like this, to some degree? Nobody wants to admit that someone else might know better than they do.

No, they do not. For Satanists (Church of Satan, maybe not other groups), Satan is a symbolic figure that is the antithesis to the Christian God as a symbolic figure. They don't believe in the bible or have a need for it. Many understand the history of it better than some Christians, but it is not by any means considered a holy book, or a factual record of anything. God does not exist to the Satanist, and Satan as an entity doesn't really exist either. I think of CoS members as really nasty atheists with decent senses of humor, and a penchant for irony. It is very self-focused in positive and negative ways. I do applaud you for being open to other people's beliefs. I respect it when a Christian can do that.

I have. Though it's been years. It's kinda hard to debate an issue intelligently w/o knowledge of the other point of view. Anton Levy was little more than a clever man with charisma. So was Hitler if you'll remember. I've had several friends that were satanist as well.

If faith can't be challenged then it's not faith at all. Just a case of going through the motions.

As for the satanic bible itself if it was satanically inspired so to speak why did satan wait so long to give his point of view for the masses? If he did & was really intelligent he would have inspired it oh say around the time of the Babylonian Captivity or Jesus' resurrection at the latest. Hitler wrote Mein Camp so why didn't satan use him to write it if he was waiting for a charismatic fellow?

Christians do not read satanic bibles because our Holy Bible tells us all we need to know about satan and how to avoid him. God's word tell us to avoid the very appearance of evil. We would be going against all that our Bible teaches if we were to read any such bible. Christians have the reputation of being intolerant. If you know that the Holy Bible teaches that we should be Christ-like and love the person but not the life style or endulge in the things that brings about discord and confusion. We all know that Christ was not tolerant of a lot of things that is why He healed evil spirits and helped the woman caught in adultry when the people of the town were going to stone her. Do you think that if everyone would not lie, commit murder, be envious, respect thier parents, honor the wedding vows,or take things that do not belong to them and all the other things the Ten Commandments speak of that there would be gangs and the over filled prisons and children alcoholics and drug addicts, much less pedifiles and sexual abuse and women dying from their partners anger and so on and so on?

I've read a few chapters of the Satanic Bible when I was an Atheist actually.

I think it falls in line with what Jesus said about not having ANYTHING to do with darkness is why we as Christians don't read it. I certainly don't want to read it anymore.

I'm not a Christian, but I've read the Satanic bible (if you're talking about LaVey's work). Funny stuff, and not without some humanistic sensibility. I liked the Devil's Notebook as well.

Well since Satan prides himself in being the father of lies, what good would it do to read it?

I don't have to read Mein Kampf to know Hitler was evil.

The same reason why you don't go into a place of business with phony money, it's no good.
