Someone laid down a friendly challenge to box Thanksgiving weekend.
The gauntlet was thrown, and I picked it up, problem is I'm a lover not a fighter, last time I was in any sort of fight was high-school, years ago.
The person I'll be fighting has me beat in reach (by a lot) and boxing skill, but I have the other person beat on strength and speed.
I need to know how I need to train in order to win, tips for when I'm actually in the ring, and if the rope-a-dope method actually works.

I have a month and a half to train, the Rocky Soundtrack, and the will to do whatever it takes to win.

Thanks in advance

I recently started training for boxing and my trainer has me going the length of the round none stop on a heavy bag with no gaps stepping to the side every 15 seconds. You do that for how many rounds you plan to fight or 1 or 2 more rounds if you want. This kills but it will do alot for you once you get in the ring. Also since hes taller your going to have to get in close on him either by holding your guard high and walking him down or bob and weave yourself in. Good Luck with your training!!!

Well you can put the soundtrack on the shelf, pick up a Nike or a SPARQ speedrope and beat it up if you can. You'll be surprised at how quick and explosive that **** will get you if you aren't at your full potential already...only YOU know if you are or not. You say you got the strength and speed so, if you can't take him apart, he's that good. Comprende? Also, work on your core; with crunches, chin-ups, push-ups and get a couple 25lb. hex-bells and do 4-6, reps of 12-15. I like doing pull-ups while standing, which is safe because you're not lifting anything above your head. Lastly, lay off the liquor and smoking if you do, because you're better when your clear headed and don't get winded as easy.
