First he better make sure his wife-to-be can handle the rigors of being a U.S. Marine wife. It's not for every woman. It's got to be one of the toughest jobs IN the military. Let her talk to some senior NCO U.S. Marine wives and see if she can handle it.
Being a military wife is no piece of cake, what with many separations, at times no word from hubby. I did over 20 years in the Navy PRE-EMAIL/IM...I was gone 13 months and over 6 of those months no mail...only an occasional radio-patch phone call in the middle of the night. My youngest was born while I was gone. I was gone 12 months to the middle east when letters typically took 10 - 14 days ONE WAY. I did 2 tours of 6 months each to the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean when my sons were in their early teens.
Fortunately, my wife was a 'navy brat' and was used to the Navy's deployments (back when they were 9 month Med/North Atlantic/WestPac cruises).
Have your son talk to some of his senior NCOs, too.
Good luck!
MOM, be PROUD of your US MARINE! May God bless YOU in a might way!
Oh, check out WWW.SGTGRIT.COM and sign up for their newsletter, and encourage your son's gf to do the same. When you start receiving it, keep a box of tissues by the computer. This old salt receives the newsletters and sometimes it gets hard to read the incoming letters.

All he needs to do is follow whatever the law is in the state where they want to be married. If he's getting ready to deploy, more than likely (depending on the state) they'll speed up the license. When my husband and I got married, we went in for the license, and we had to use it after 2 weeks but before 30 days. That's just the way they did it in Texas. If he wants to have a traditional Marine Corps wedding on base, he needs to talk to the chaplain, get the license and plan it like any other wedding. The fun thing is all the Marines in their Blues. My husband got his friends to dress up and some escorted the bride/groom's mother's to their seats. The rest were in the wedding party and they escorted the bride's maids down the isle. Then there's the part where they welcome the bride to the Marine Corps family. That's fun, depending on how and when they do it. They do the arch, then your son will kiss his new bride. Then one guy will pat her bottom with the sword and welcome her to the family! Always funny! And make sure you get lots of pics!! There's more, but I don't think I'd be able to get it all on here! Good luck!

He goes and gets married like anyone else. Marriage certificate at a court-house and exchange vows w/his wife before a Notary or someone that is authorized at the courthouse. He then takes his marriage license to the Admin. Department where he is stationed, and voi-la, he's a married Marine.
