No, but that is why people believe in God. It's in human nature to attribute the unknown to mythical beings, it's been that way since the dawn of mankind.
I look to science for answers, not mythology.

Definition of God:
A supernatural, non-physical entity that predates the universe responsible for creating reality and everything that happens and that occasionally chooses to reveal himself to humans by violating the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology.
Definition of Atheist:
One who rejects the existence of the entity represented in the previous concept for lack of evidence.
Anything else that needs an explanation?

Atheism is a way of dealing with something that one just doesn't want to deal with or understand! I feel bad for those who don't even give God a chance to prove that He truly does exist!! If one opens their heart and mind to Him...He will show Himself to them!! I was skeptical for a long time...but soon came to have a personal relationship with God and now there is NO DOUBT in my mind that He exists!

You mean stuff that you can not understand like the fact that God is a phantom fantasy.
I had to think about that for a moment. It is kind of hard to explain away something that is not there.
I don't think atheists are trying to explain faith away though. They are quite aware that faith exists. They likely even have a pretty good understanding of it. They simply consider it a thinking style that is dangerous to society and harmful to individuals.

Well.. aren't all words man made, including "god"?
Let's look at the word atheist. The prefix "a" means non or not. The word theist means one who believes in a god or gods. Therefore, an atheist is not a theist. An atheist is a non-theist. An atheist is one who does not believe in a god or gods. The word itself never attempts to explain away anything. It's quite simple really. What don't you understand?

Exactly.
In many ways Athiests are just like Thiests. Except that they tend not to indulge in Cultish behavior, are rarely mistaken for Pod People, don't hand out pamphlets for Atheism on street corners and hardly ever commit mass murder in the name of Darwin.

The word simply means not believing in a god or superior being.
"The existence of a world without God seems to me less absurd than the presence of a God, existing in all his perfection, creating an imperfect man in order to make him run the risk of Hell." [Armand Salacrou, "Certitudes et incertitudes," 1943]

All words are man made, genius.
It's actually the word "god" or any variation thereof that was made by earlier humans to help explain what they don't understand.
"Why is there fire coming from the mountains?" "God!"
"Why is the wind blowing so hard?" "God!"
"Why is it raining so hard? Why wont it stop?" "God!"
And so on, and so on.
Stop trolling and go read a book or something... Just make sure it's not your "good" book.

What's a God-made word?
No, in fact, it's actually quite the opposite. Religion tries to explain away what it doesn't understand. Atheists seek to answer those problems by analyzing natural laws, and experimenting.
If that isn't psychological projection, I don't know what is.
