I have already taken him once this week to the regular vet and now people are saying he needs to go the emergency one.

It's hard to tell, varies by area and vet. I paid $179 for an emergency vet visit when my dog got stung at 4 in the morning once, she got a shot of benedryl and decadron, a steroid.
I read your other question, your cat sounds very sick and this could be very expensive. I recommend calling around to see how much a visit is and make sure they tell you how much things are going to cost before they do anything.

It will depend on where you are and what he needs. I visited the emergency vet once, the total cost was about $300 dollars, but I was there for 3 hours and my cat had to be sedated. When I Iooked at the individual charges, they were pretty much the same as I would have paid at my regular vet for the same things. I think one or two items were a little bit less.

Edited to add:
For example, the xray which confirmed my cat's constipation was, I think, $85. I pay exactly the same at my vets for an x-ray. The exam itself was $50, but I pay $55 at my vets.

You'll have to call and ask because costs can vary by area. In some areas you'll have to drive a distance to find an emergency clinic. It stands to reason they would be more expensive.

like the other person stated it depends on where you live.
I paid only $85 for my cat to be seen and then be laid to sleep as she was in very poor health (12 yrs and heart trouble).
I wish you the best in finding a reasonable and caring vet like we did.

It varies with the emergency clinic. Ours in Milwaukee charges $75 to walk in the door and get looked at. Anything else is extra.

just see another vet if your not happy,as emergency vets will cost a lot,and you only need one if your cat is really in pain and it out of hours vet time.

Grab the yellow pages and start calling for Animal hospitals or Vets for quotes.

Also, what the difference between a regular vet and and emergency one? lol
