Actually, the opposite is true. The intense study of the Dead Sea scrolls has shown that todays version of scripture is approximately 99% ACCURATE.
It is man's UNDERSTANDING that has become corrupt.

The proof is already there - you mentioned it. There are no original texts anywhere. All there are is copies, but since we don't have the originals we can't know if they've been changed or not. That doesn't prove that it's never been changed, or that it has been. What it does prove is that you can't claim it hasn't, because you can't know that.
I just had a discussion about this yesterday with someone. They said the Bible had to be true because everything fits so well together. The books were written at different times yet you can see where one points to another, one fulfills a previous one etc. It took me doing a visual display with sheets of paper for them to understand what I was saying.
When the Bible was put together, there were far more books than what we have now. Out of those, some were ignored (or even destroyed), while others were included. At that point, someone had all the books laying infront of them. They could have easily gone in and changed a line here, a word there, so that it to all fit together. Without the originals we'd have no way of knowing. When they got what I was saying they had the reaction of "Well... yeah I guess, but what would they do that?"
If you look at the history of the Roman Catholic church you'll see exactly why they would have done it: Wealth, Power, Status... take your pick.

The bible was first written in ancient Hebrew which no one reads anymore. There were no separation of words and no vowels. So when it was interpreted, it would have been easy to make mistakes. LV could be "I Love You" or "You Leave." Big difference.
Then the bible was copied by hand for a very long time. It would be very easy for someone to leave a word or letter out and create a whole new meaning. Remember there is only a " T " between "die" and "diet".
Also the bible that most people read nowadays "King James Version" was put together by a committee since the king was king of two different countries. The committee put the two bibles together, dropping books and adding others.
So how can you say the bible is not corrupt? The bible is just like any other mythology book and should be read for its meanings, not read literally.

I would not go so far to say the Holy Bible is corrupted, but notable Greek and Hebrew scholars have had disagreements and discovered errors in various translations. Anytime a writing is translated from its original source, there is a possibility of error, just for the fact that human beings are not perfect as god is.
If we took the Bible literally for every word, whether Old or New Testament, we would mess around with deadly serpents and drink cyanide without ill effects. We would have to stone married cheaters, we would have to do a lot of the things the Bible has stated.
But many of us do in fact believe the Bible is the truth from God Almighty, errors in translations or not

"Now the consoler, the holy spirit, which the Father wil be sending in My name, that will be teaching you all, and reminding you of all that I said to you." John 14:26
Yes, the Bible has been corrupted, however if you listen to the holy spirit, God will guide you to truth.
God knows what is in your heart. If you are sincere in your desire for truth He will reveal it to you.
"Request and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who is requesting is obtaining, and who is seeking is finding, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened." Matt. 7:7-8
Now you may wonder that some of the verses I cite above sound a little different than what you remember. I use a Concordant Literal New Testament. A concordance translates the known texts of scripture literally and they translate each word using the exact same corresponding English term every time. Its not always the prettiest sounding or the most poetic but it is as faithful to the original texts as you can find. Get one, but at the same time never forget, it doesn't matter what version you use, if your heart is hardened to the truth you will not find it.

Introduction: We must first of all know that the entire Bible is corrupted and unreliable and is mostly filled with man-made laws and corruption! "`How can you say, "We [the Jews] are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?' (From the NIV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"
The Revised Standard Version makes it even clearer: "How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us'? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it (i.e., the bible) into a LIE. (From the RSV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"
In either translation, we clearly see that the Jews had so much corrupted the Bible with their man-made cultural laws, that they had turned the Bible into a lie!
See Also Deuteronomy 31:25-29 where Moses peace be upon him predicted the corruption/tampering of the Law (Bible) after his death.
The Book of Moses predicted that the Law (Bible) will get corrupted. The Book of Jeremiah which came approximately 826 years after did indeed confirm this corruption.

Mormons believe the Bible was corrupted and that their first "prophet", Joseph Smith, "restored" it. While it's true that he made more than 600 changes to God's Word, there is no proof that he "restored" ANYTHING. In fact, it would be more appropriate to say he created a CORRUPT religion and ever since, millions of people have been deceived because of it.
Great question! God bless you!

Archaeologist are constantly digging up books of the bible, how much more original can it get. The last person to touch it was the person who wrote it.

But, but...you just made it a condition that the original text no longer exists anywhere. How does one provide proof of something that no longer exists?
If you believe that the Loch Ness Monster doesn't exist, bring physical evidence supporting this...

The closest thing to "the original" would be the Dead Sea Scrolls - Old Testament only.
& I think the debate's still out on that one....
After all the new is just a collection of memoirs and letters containing various lessons. (woops a gurenteed thumbs down folks....)
