I disagree with them on their religions views, just as I do any other religion.
But repugnant? No.

The Vatican's voice is far FAR from obsolete. Look at Communism and what happened to it, thanks to the active intervention and oposition from Rome, for instance. Believe me that when Rome speaks, the cause is settled (Roma locuta, causa finita)...even if its authority is not implicitly or professedly recognized. Besides, those old farts have millions of catholics (men and women) to serve and care for, and their business is not excusively nose in women's business. That would be a bit too much on the paranoid side, don't you think?
But anyway... Power to Women! What would we be without you.
God bless.
pd. I have to agree that Benedict XVI's face is funny and doesn't inspire the same as John Paul II's warm presence, oh but he is Peter. Ego C u m petro.

The Pope and the Magesterium are charged with teaching and preserving the faith. I don't know what "women's business" you are referring to, or why you think the Pope is "creepy." These men teach not only to Catholics but are also a moral voice for the world. They address complex issues such as human rights, environmental concerns, tyranny and oppression. They have made appeals on behalf of hostages and have asked for clemancy for condemned prisoners. It is their vocation to speak. Silence is not an option for them.

I tend to agree with you
If I think about what pope institution meant before...
adulterers, thieves, crimes, luxuries. Take for example Roderigo Borgia(pope Alexander vi). Also the trial of Formosus 'corpse. Or the pope's silence during the Nazis.
The present pope is really old. I dont know why he was elected. And I don't understand why they are not female priests. So you are right: they shouldnt put their noses in women's business

Yeah, I can see that telling people using condoms will send you to hell so they can get AIDS here and die is a little messed up. But if the Vatican says so, it must be right, right?

If you don't want the Pope telling you what to do - don't be a Catholic. It's that simple. Catholic and the Pope, they go together. It's a package deal. Leave the "old fart" alone.

Yeah, but that same criticism applies to all organized religion. It's all creepy and obsolete.

The Vatican has been morally repugnant for centuries.
Check out 'The Great Schism' to see a little more; now THAT was classic!

I agree. I suppose the pope serves his purpose for Catholics, although many don't agree with his teachings. But for the most part it's just old white men trying to control women.
