Seems to me if you can defend your faith or feel confident about it, none of this is necessary.

cadisney, I agree in general. But being an ex in itself is not a bad thing, in many current Christians' lives, being an ex has been a blessing. You can choose to look at it as bad, if you wish.

Suzanne, I think it's great for the general public to see how they truly conduct themselves when they think they're not being observed. Very Christlike (not).

People, whether they be JW's or any other group only feel threatened when their beliefs are atacked and they feel unable to defend them. JW's are not able to accurately defend their beliefs because most of what they are taught is not true. I was taught rote 'reasonings' for all the most common topics you are likely to meet 'on the doors' but was left ill equipped to deal with what I found on an open forum like this. When I asked questions as a JW, the stock answer from other JW's was 'not to ask questions on an open forum, because I would be opening myself up to attacks from Satan'. I have said it before, and I will say it again. The truth will withstand any attack, no matter what is thrown at it. And, if you believe you have the truth then you have nothing to be afraid of. Indeed, as a soldier of Christ you should relish such attack as a mark of the truth. I did not have the truth and my belief crumbled, but I am ever grateful for that. By the way, I cannot check out the link, it appears I have been blocked but I know what it is and I am blocked because I, amongst others, speak out against the Watchtower society because I want other brothers and sisters to see the truth behind this evil organisation that threatens the very salvation of those I once held, and still hold dear. If you saw a loved one in a monsters jaws, would you not do the same?

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that everyone who does not survive Armageddon will not be resurrected to get "another chance" during the 1,000 years when earth will become a paradise. Ex-JW's who speak out against them are considered to be "apostates" and are therefore worse than mere unbelievers. They think an "apostate" has rejected Jehovah, but an apostate is a person who has rejected Christ Jesus. Trouble is, they seem incapable of understanding a person can leave their organisation yet become a true Christian - a person who has only abandoned a man-made organisation. They are careful to say they don't know who will be saved - that it's up to Jehovah to decide. But they also say they're the only true Christians, and only they have the truth and they are God's sole chanel of communication. All other Christian denominations are part of false religion and they're going to be destroyed at Armageddon. JW's are told that they have to be baptised and be part of Jehovah's organisation in order to survive the coming battle of Armageddon that will bring an end to false religion. But don't worry because the Bible teaches no such thing. The Bible says it is for man to die once and then face judgment and if you have undergone the "new birth" and Christ Jesus is your Lord and Saviour, you have nothing to fear. That leaves most JW's in a difficult position, because they deny who Christ Jesus really is. EDIT: Just check out the quotations given by Danman - now why has he got so many t/d's from quoting what Jehovah's Witnesses are taught from their own publications?

I'm a ex-associate of the JWs. Left years ago. Currently an atheist. I like many people were brought into it by a parent(s) who was too insecure in themselves (and/or too lazy) to find personal and spiritual strength in themselves or with a group that doesn't require you to sacrifice too much of your time, your spirit, and your very life. These types of people are ripe-pickings for the Watchtower Tract Society. The current Jehovah Witnesses to the Society who are on this forum are most likely newbies who have recently joined the Witnesses cult and are familiar with the internet. Although the organization teaches pacifism, these "spiritual fighters" feel the need to defend what gives them their "strength" (currently the elders of the Witnesses would advise their flock against going on to sites like this, in order to have them avoid absorbing any negativity against the organization, but I see some of the JWs here do it anyway. Confident in their "faith armor" that words of "persecution" from these "apostates" will not affect them)

Dear Used to Be Pedi C,
It seems that they just might be feeling threatened by more than the EX-JWs who post here since I could not view the links provided.
I rejected what my Watchtower witness relatives said throughout childhood and adulthood. I never became one so I am not an ex or an apostate.
I heartily agree with your closing statement.
For His glory,
JOYfilled

Interestingly, I am blocked from viewing the question you've linked to. Apparently the asker feels I'm a threat because I'm an "ex."
The witnesses are prevented from questioning their beliefs. Someone who questions a teaching and is expelled is not reinstated if that teaching is changed to match the very point he was making. He was expelled for questioning them, even if he was right and they were wrong!
There may seem to be more ex-JWs speaking out here than those of other religions. The above reason would be why. We can't ask questions or make criticisms and stay in the religion. The implications are that we are removed for "immorality." The fact is, we are guilty of extended usage of our brains.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Light.
Is this not a forum for freely discussing Religion and Spirituality?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071003111802AAU3BZI
Is this a passing fad or...
Is this the first time followers of the Wt have tried to control Yahoo and curtail freedom of speech?
Is this list abuse or violation?
Should each and every one that replies to that Question and follows that directive by the adherents be looked into for violation by Yahoo?
The system imposed to block and negate Yahoo's open forum is given in the Question:
Heavenly Eyes I am sooo proud of you!!! You can help, instead of responding to any apostates or suspicious answers read the questions carefully and if you identify an apostate, star it ONLY,no remarks, so we can all readily go and block that identified apostate or apostate supporter. That's not to say that you can't star other things too it's just that if you star and leave no answer we can go look and block. Thanks.
Here again is the link to the Question, look for yourself:

I am not a JW, but ex anything tend to be bitter and insincere many times when asking or answering a question regarding that religion. Many times the questions and answers are cloaked in half truths and hidden agendas and then people think they are more credible because they are ex so they must know. The problem is that if they are an ex something then they also might be more bitter and angry and tend to overexaggerate the facts.

I can't view the link, but I assume it is connected to one of those idiotic lists put out by Trish or Jabbering Goat.
As I understand it Jabbers made hers simply as a larf in response to Trish. Trish seems to feel that those who show themselves, in her eyes, to have no interest shouldn't be bothered with. On some levels I agree.
I doubt many of those on here who profess to be Witnesses feel the least bit threatened by former Witnesses.
As was pointed out, it is against rules, and I reported each? appearance of either list.
