Adam lost life for himself and offspring. When Adam was created, God placed in the garden of Eden “the tree of life.” (Ge 2:9) This tree evidently had no intrinsic life-giving qualities in its fruit, but it represented God’s guarantee of life “to time indefinite” to the one whom God would allow to eat of its fruit. Since the tree was put there by God for some purpose, undoubtedly Adam would have been permitted to eat this fruit after proving faithful to a point that God considered satisfactory and sufficient. When Adam transgressed, he was prevented from having opportunity to eat from the tree, Jehovah saying: “Now in order that he may not put his hand out and actually take fruit also from the tree of life and eat and live to time indefinite,—.” Then Jehovah followed his words with action. He would not allow one unworthy of life to live in the garden made for righteous persons and to eat of the tree of life.—Ge 3:22, 23.

Yes, the tree of life was also in there however God did not let them partake of the tree of life at that time. The tree of life is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, But first we will have the opportunity to let Jesus save us from our sins so we wont have to live forever out of the presence of God. The reason why it was in the Garden of Eden was that the Garden was a perfect place; A place God himself walked. In order for it to be a perfect place then every thing a person could ever want was with in the garden that included the tree of life.

God is both righteous and merciful. These are the two natures of God.
The law (God's righteousness) and salvation through our lord Jesus Christ the tree of life.(God's mercy)

John 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Edom was a desert area in what is now Jordan south and east of the Dead Sea...In later times it became known by the Greek name "Idumaea" and still later it was known as "Nabatea" which is famous for because of the ruins of Petra...

I think you mean the Garden of Eden...

I actually think Satan put that there...not God and that is why God told them not to eat of it...

That is why Satan was so eager for Eve to eat of it...

Food, the tree of life is for spiritual food. I'm hoping the fruit of that tree tastes like love. The spiritual food we eat today, is bread, or, forgiveness. Eat it daily, connect bread and eating, with forgiveness and prayer in your mind. Make it a habit.

Remember, Adam and Eve didn't eat the tree itself, they ate the fruit, that is to say, 'Judgement', which comes after life, which is to say, 'after the first death'.
