I've been working as a dentists assistant for the last few months, but I'm still having a bit of trouble paying off my student loans. The other day while I was doing a tooth pulling I came up with the idea to make some extra money on the side. Do you know of anyone who buys teeth and if so is there a way I could sell them on the down low? Also, do you think its unethical to tell patients that they need their teeth pulled when they really don't? I really need the money. It's not unethical to resell people's teeth is it? I mean they don't need them anymore, right?

since it is no longer legal to kill elephants for their Ivory, this should create and excellent market for human Ivory, although they are much smaller than elephant tusk, there should still be a market for miniature carvings.
and these should be easy to sell on E Bay,
by the way you could cut out the middle man by doing the carving yourself.
also as another perk, if you are not artistic, you could ask Jack B. to teach you.

I think is this a joke question. Is it unethical to tell patients they need a tooth pulled? Well, first of all, I don't even think you're an assitant, because only the dentist decides treatment not the dental assitant. And if the dentist is defrauding patients and you go along with it, then you will lose everything when the dentist gets sued one day.
As far as the tooth thing goes, every dental assitant understands that a tooth is considered a biohazard and has a proper disposal if the patient doesn't want to take it home.
I do think that this is the most ridiculous question that I have ever taken the time to answer.

OK - I'm going to pretend I think you are for real. First off, find a financial establishment to help you figure a way to pay your bills. Secondly, it is illegal to even give the patient their extracted tooth!! This is considered hazardous waste, and should be disposed of accordingly. Thirdly, unethical to tell a pt they need an extraction (oh yeh, the word is extraction NOT pulled) if they really don't -- does your dr want lawsuits up the yingyang? You can't be for real. All the assistants I've met, and I've been in dentisty for many years, would never even think of anything as foolish as you are suggesting. Get a life and get a second job to fulfill your obligations! Time to grow up cupcake!

The thing is, these people that can afford going to the dentist CAN BUY NEW TEETH! Have you ever heard of DaVinci Veneers? They're just LOOKING for an excuse to get a set done. You'd be doing them a FAVOR! Besides, you'd be like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. I can't think of any more noble reason to steal a person's teeth than to benefit those in greater need.
