Sorry folks, this question is not meant for the Atheists.
I noticed that Atheists mostly come from Christianity and other religions and LEAST from Islam.
Despite this the Atheists denouncing Islam are more famous, more respected and more rewarded & defended by the non-Muslims theists, the world over. e.g. Salman Rushdie,
Taslima Nasrin etc.
My question is " WHY " ?

NOBODY IMPORTANT............
You are defending Christianity. Hence in a way you are not Atheist.
Why should one denounce a thing which gives him all satisfaction and all answers to his queries. Perhaps you couldn't find answers in Christianity while I find all my question answered by Islam .So why should I leave Islam ?
Answer me this one. What if a Russian Atheist who came from Islam is praised, rewarded and made famous by the Austrailians while an atheist from Christianity goes unnoticed and ignored ?What does it indicate ? Should I put a question before Russians or Austrailans
As I said earlier that the question is mainly addressed to the theists but Atheist's response is also welcome.
No appology required from the atheists for responding
To clarify further I would say that why non-Muslims are so much happy and filled with utmost joy when a Muslim like Rushdie denounces and bashes/ abuses Islam while they keep silent about the others who denounce their religion?

This is not true. You have to study history for the behaviour of Mulims through the ages.
I will quote few..........
"....when Jerusalem capitulated to Khalif Omer, the inhabitants of the vanquished city were left in possesion of thier worldly goods, and allowed the freedom of worship. A special quarter of the city was allotted for the residence of Christian population with thier Patriarch and his clergy."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]
" He himself [the prophet] gave letters of security and protection to the Jews and Christians in Arabia and never used any violence to them upon the account of religion."--[ An Account of The Rise And Progress of Mahometanism with the life of Mahomet- by HENRY STUBBE, M.A. of Christ Church- Oxford, From a manuscript copied by Charles Hornby of Pipe office in 1705, London,Luzac & Co. 1911, pg- 142-143]

Both of you simply got confused and gave altogether irrelevent answeres.
To simplify for the guys like you I would like to put it another way.
Why do the non-muslim religous people feel happy to hail, to appreciate, to honour, to reward a Muslim atheist like Rushdie while they like to completely ignore non-Muslim atheists.
Why this discremination against non-Muslim atheists ?
Don't they deserve YOUR respect and honour?
As simple as that........

With due respect I request you to kindly go to the additional details given in response to Panchal & Bhishama's reply. [ above ]
Plz be clarified further that I did not want to praise Rushdies.
I just wanted to know why only Rushdies [ Muslim atheists ] are given such a good treatment by the non-Muslims theists while rest of the atheists from other religions go un-noticed.
Why ?

That's a very good question. Because Christians and Muslims actually have quite similar stories. Actually, it's the same story for a while! I would think that if we (Christians) were to defend anyone, it would be the ones who at least believe in the same God as us...(all details aside, Allah is God). And I think that God judges us by what kind of hand we are dealt. I honestly don't think He would condemn a Muslim for not believing in Christ, simply because someone who is born into that faith is taught that fundamental religious doctrine all their lives. They are never taught that Christ was evil, and they're getting back at us Christians by not worshipping Him. No! Jesus is seen as a respected prophet in Islam.
Now on the other hand, a person who has been introduced to Christ, who has been raised in faith, and then turns away... We are taught that this person will be condemned. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not judging, just making note of the conundrum mentioned in the original post. Isn't the person who stood blatantly before Christ and rejected Him worse that the person who kind of liked Him, and respected His ideas, but just didn't believe He was who He was??????? I would think that Christians and Muslims would get along better because at the root of both faiths is a devoutness to God, and moral stability. People from both faiths have twisted doctrine to suit their own morbid agendas.
***************************************
Just thought of one more thing I forgot to add: More atheists come from Christianity (i.e., Western culture) because "liberated" Western cultures place more importance on individualism and betterment of self, unlike many Eastern cultures, which place emphasis on humility and selflessness. Since more people within the Christian circles want to be "unique" or "nonconformists", they decide to denounce that which is familiar and common to them, i.e., the Church. In places where Islam is prevalent, I don't think people have the time to waste thinking about how they're going to define themselves and be their "own person". They are much to busy with worship and blowing $#!^ up! Just kidding, but really, I don't think that they worry about whether God is really there. They just believe He is, and they devote themselves to this belief. So no, I really don't think there are very many "closet atheists" in the Muslim world, because they just have a different social thought process than we have here.

Dear Edib,
Received your question, and read carefully in this regards i would like to say you here a few words. First any one have rights to ask any type of question, but did u think the question you are arrise is that correct or wrong. On the other hand Salman Rushdie & Taslima Nasrin they are just empty vessels and empty vessels make mush noice. Don't depend on them.
Any way those who are playing with the religions through out the world, they can not accellarate their live more, the end will be shore.
However, muslims respect to others, my Islam say that respect all religions either you accept or not.
Thanks,
SAH

I wouldn't draw any conclusions form this without any firm statistics, especially as the ones you mentioned aren't that well know (I've never seen their names here). Another consideration is Atheists really could care less how famous/respected a person is as it is the facts that count, not the person.
In the scope of things Islam is less ingrained in western society and thus is easier to see as a made up religion, rating at #4 or #3 as the most obvious.
Edit:
Given that Islam is a very repressive religion and very intertwined with the governments of Islamic nations, it's not surprising that atheism doesn't "flourish" openly... I certainly wouldn't say that I was an atheist in any Islamic nation.

You seem to take pride in the fact that an Islamist generaly do not become atheist. And eventually if ever one becomes, he is high lighted and eulogised by non muslims.
There are so many reasons that lower numbers of atheists are noticed from Islam.
1) In matter religious, no free thinking is allowed in Islam.
2) As fresh air of free thoughts are not allowed, it has started stinking.
3) An atheist requires stomach, strength of character and wisdom which is in
short supply in Islam.
4) Generally an atheist is a genious, and genious is always welcomed.
5) Khalil Gibran was the biggest atheist. Now Lebanon proclaims him as the
as the best philosipher of the world and proud son of soil.
Muslims shall save them selves from such hypocracy.

Because most Christian jurisprudence doesn't call for the killing of those who apostate from Christianity. Guess what's supposed to happen if you apostate from Islam? You're only supposed to leave that religion in either a burial shroud or a body bag.
I don't understand why you're insisting upon only answers from theists. That doesn't make any sense. Why on earth would you ask a question about Russians but insist that it's only directed to Australian people? There's plenty of us atheists here, we're more than happy to answer your questions about us, and I promise you that we'll give better answers than the theists will, given that...well, they're not atheists. I offer no apology for answering this question.

This is because we Atheists know that so far, in the Judeo-Christian culture, we can speak our mind, although I do fear the direction things are heading in this country.
But in Islamic countries, it seems like they want to kill anyone for the slightest deviation from their interpretation of their religion - no need to imagine what would happen to an Atheist.
There are probably as many Atheists in Islamic countries, but there is less freedom as well, and few people dare speak their minds.
FACT - not prejudice.

It is not in any way very dificult to understand .Atheists among muslims are put to sword since Islam is a religion of murder .Once one enters the relions of Islam, he is to die in Isma ir is killed in Islam. No one is free to think differentlyfrom Islam. The other religons are not like that .They respect even atheists as human beings having the right of opinion.whereas Islam alone in the entire world enslaves its adherent and kills them if they chose to think independently or expsress any dissent .There is no wonder that even the atheists among mulsims are respected by the other religions which encourage and respect free thinking and the right of free expression. These are the charcters of Islam and other religions .

Sorry about disrespecting your wishes by being an Atheist answering your post.
An Atheist isn't on either side. We're like, it seems, an objective observer. So our opinion on these matters seem to carry more weight. It's like a football game. You're not a fan of the Redskins or the Cowboys, but you pick the cowboys to win based on the facts. Your opinion is probably more centered than a Redskin or Cowboy fan.

An atheist has no motive to criticize other religions. He does not have a competitor for his belief.
A believer has thousands of other believers of various religions as competitors. Then the survival technique works there. Either abuse them, crush them or eradicate them.
Demolishing places of worship of other religions, a believer will do. Not an atheist will think of it.

i'm a Christian and that i incredibly do not strategies listening to comments from atheists and different non Christians yet, its actual that its in basic terms a waste of font for them to not a minimum of attempt and answer intelligently. it incredibly is unlike all Christian is ever going to alter their strategies because of the fact some sixteen 365 days previous says "Religin is gay"(typos intentional) in case you non believers have a strategies, be at liberty to apply it. in case you think of you're counsel is definitely useful then by skill of all skill throw 2 cents in. otherwise, play on the interest pages.
