I recently lixted all the languages I could speak on my Resume and at the interview they told me that I am just bi-lingual and not Multi-lingual. The languages are English Spanish, Ebonics, British, Southern,Canadian, Pig Latin and Double dutch. Why do they only consider the first two valid languages- the rest are languages also. I don't get it.

Ebonics is English, British is English in a British accent, Southern is English in a Southern accent, Canadian is English in a Canadian accent, and neither Pig Latin or Double Dutch are actual languages, just mangled codes of English.
So yes, with just English and Spanish, you're bilingual.

May be the others are just dialects of English.
Depends upon what the job requirements are!
For instance there are languages which have no script, and are merely spoken languages, which may not be useful for designing leaflets, brochures for the products manufactured by the employers!
Basically, they are employers, not Universities granting recognition for knowledge. So, they may not count the items redundant for the job though it may be laudable from linguistic-skills-point of view!
Best wishes!

English, Ebonics, British, Southern, and Canadian are all names for dialects of the same language. Pig Latin and Double Dutch are not different languages or dialects; they are language games based on the principles of phonology. So you're multi-dialectal, not multi-lingual.

P.S. Canadian AND Southern?

Yeah, your right! Sounds multi enough to me. Who speak Latin other than Priests? Canada and Britain - it's like they have a different word for everything. Shoot single Dutch is hard - but double Dutch - how do you get your tongue around those words?!!?
Maybe it's cause your royalty - they're just keeping you down.

i dont think any of the other are official languages on other countries, but i also think they should count. just tell ur boss something in ebonics or pig latin and if he goes like wat??? then u say u seee its a whole different language :D

the rest of the "languages" you've said might not be recognize as languages but dialects.

I would say you're multi-lingual as well, god knows why they are persistant with putting you down as bi-lingual.
