1] use antibiotic ointment and a bandage until it no longer hurts. Change once or twice a day.
2] then dab a bit of ointment onit after every shower until it heals.
3] do not pick or peel at the scab - you could introduce a new infection, or make a 'disgusting' scar.
If it swells, turns redder or purple, develops a discharge, or you run a fever, see a doctor.

this made me laugh. What did you fall over a blockhead pumping weights!
Mercuracrome is good. I know it is hard not to want to go through injury etc. Before you go in put a big band aid thing on it, and when you leave take it off. Wounds heal quicker with fresh air, unless it is real big.

Put a Band-Aid over it, it helps me forget about the pain and digustingness of it. I had a large one on my foreleg a while ago, and it left a large white scar. However, DON'T PICK AT IT!! That's what made mine worse, and eventually scarred.

Sorry let nature take its course as long as it is dry but you could show a chemist and see if you should cover it with melapore a dry dressing which may help.

the best thing you can do is give it plenty of oxygen and be sure to keep up a healthy diet. the faster your metabolism works the faster your body repairs itself. Your body breaks down food to sustain your body, healthier and well fed bodies heal themselves faster than an unhealthy starved one.
