That's how Tourettes is always portrayed, but there are a variety of "ticks" a person can have. Some people shake their heads, some make squeeking noises, some almost sound like they're stuttering, some tap their foot, and all kinds of other ticks. People that scream cuss words is how television portrays people with Tourettes.

That's a really good question. Where do they even learn those words..esp. the little kids with it.? I feel really sorry for them.People should never make fun of them either..like imitating them etc. They go through so much!!!! Of course I don't have an answer...I doubt anyone really knows. All we can do is guess. It wouldn't be hard for them to pick up those words on tv these days. I guess it's an expression of anger or frustration and when you feel that way..you sure don't wanna say, "Hey, I like chocolate!"

Sometimes they do!! Not all people who suffer from tourettes necessarily curse. those who do generally get the most attention. Some people tourettes doesn't even make them say anything but they might mumble, or hum, or suffer from a facial tick.

I know a guy with Tourette's that randomly makes a yelping sound. He doesn't say anything vulgar.
