My stutter is not extreme but it is a problem on a daily bases. Im 16 and i live in CA and I want to be employed by a place that will cover my disability, what i want to know is if theirs a benefit package such as the Long Term Disability plan that will cover my bill of a Device known as the fluency master that device is suppose to reduce my stuttering. Here is the def. of the plan of the long term disability : A separate accrual of Extended Sick Leave (ESL) is used for short-term illnesses. ESL accrues annually at the rate of .77 hours per week (pro-rated for part time employees). Spaulding also offers a Long Term Disability plan that is based on your weekly salary.
Is that the plan for me? and if it is how does it work between me and the place thats hiring me??

Instead of looking for someone to pay for something that might not help you, you should be looking for ways to help yourself. Looking for employment solely on what they can give you in terms of what you want will not get you hired anywhere nor help your stuttering. You can get information about insurance coverage from The Stuttering Foundation of America on their web site or by calling them. They also have a list of speech therapists who specialize in treating stuttering listed by state. I doubt that you are diligent enough to use the book my relatives used to conquer their stuttering as it means studying "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" and working through the steps with practice until you acquire more fluency. If you ever do mature to that point, give it a try as it is only a few dollars and you won't by hunting for someone else to pay for it, I hope.

ok, well i don't know much about these disability matters. The first thing i would look in to is if the stuttering is even considered under a disability program at the place of employment. Some of these companies may only take into account physical disabilities. Also you might want to look into your health insurance... it might actually be covered and if not if you call them and harass them you might get it covered. i know it's not too much but that's all i could think of. Also this ESL could only be taking about sick leave... thus if you continue to work you would receive more sick leave days because of your disability.. at least that's what the text seems to imply.

Health insurance does NOT cover the Fluency Master, nor any other type of feedback device, as stuttering is not typically an acquired disorder (it is classified as a developmental speech disorder).
If you have not been evaluated by a speech pathologist and received a recommendation for you candidacy for such a device, you shouldn't be using it. They are not appropriate for all stutterers.
Talk to a speech pathologist. Not only will you get recommendations regarding candidacy for a device, but she/he will be aware of funding resources.
If you are still in high school, your parents can ask for a speech evaluation by writing a letter of request to the school principal. The examiner will determine if your disorder is severe enough to warrant therapy and/or assistive device..
