I am asking this because in answering another question a couple of people said they attend nondenominational churches.

I am going to a nondenominational church tomorrow. This church is not in the town where I live; I am going with somebody who is very shy, but looking for a church home.

Everything on their website seems reasonable enough to me, but I’m not entirely sure what to expect.

Could you tell me about your nondenominational church?

Are they usually similar to other protestant services?

Update: The nondenominational church we visited was very much like all of you describe. I was surprised to see a congregation almost completely of young people. Young adults and young families. The style was very informal and the pastor gave the congregation a chance to ask questions. The music was contemporary praise music.

The teachings were sound and I like the informal style.

I don't know if my young friend will go back, but I think it would be a good choice for a young person.

Nondenominational just really means that they focus more on the Word of God, instead of doctrinal issues. The statement of faith is fairly simple. There are usually no traditions to worry about and the mind set tends to be a little more relaxed than at the denominational churches.

I think that the most important thing for the church to do is to teach literal truth of the Bible and lead people to a life changing relationship with God.

I also attend the non-denominational Christian church. I love it. I have a protestant back ground, and I was already attending the church where they teach that Jesus is the Son of living God, our Lord and Savior. However, I like the worship style better in my current church. What I mean by it, their worship songs are contemporary, we clap our hands and the service over all is joyful rather than formal.

I agree with robert. Christian is a Christian that is a life style. Not baptist, mormon, ect.
I attend a nondenominational church and I love it. They are very accepting of whoever. They dont kick you out for sining (like mormons and JW's) and you dont have to join them. We have been going for years and we are not considered members. It is a big church but the pastor is really great. here is the website. baysideonline.com read the part were they explain their beliefs. This is what you want to look for in other churches. Make sure they follow the bible correctly. There are some weird churches out their.

I don't know if they're similar or not. I've never been to a protestant church. But our church teaches the bible and biblical principals. We have no formal membership. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for our sins and rose on the third day. We also believe that He is the only Way to the Father. We don't pass a plate. We have offering boxes near the doors. We believe that what one gives is between him/her and God.

Our church is very relaxed (no suit or dress requirement). We are very community oriented. We have a weekly breadline that usually feeds 70 to 100 families. Our youth are an awesome group of kids. Our church's motto is Real people Changed lives.

2 solutions here: First, i in my opinion started in a nondenominational church and moved to a denomination, and that i be attentive to i'm no longer on my own. So, it does ensue the two techniques. yet, one key reason human beings depart the various greater classic denominations is that those denominations get so concentrated on what the centralized headquarters or their annual convention comes to a decision is the concentration of the guy congregations, that they lose touch with the desires of a particular church physique. self sustaining church homes are waiting to greater applicable handle the desires interior that distinctive congregation. Secondly, Paul Cyp and that i will actually variety on our definition of a denomination. A "Denomination" is a set of church homes which document up by way of a hierarchy and are affiliated with one yet another. a stable occasion of what I advise are the Bible church homes. jointly as lots of them would have faith very further, they're completely self sustaining from one yet another and overall performance as thoroughly self reliant congregations from one yet another. jointly as they might party for activities, they do no longer document to a centralized headquarters or have an annual convention that they attend. The variations to their church shape and assertion of ideals besides as their management is difficulty to the guidelines and ideology of the participants. i exploit the Bible Church because of the fact the occasion here, considering it somewhat is a substantial occasion of a non-denominational church.

I attend a spirit filled non-denominational church and love it. The Holy Spirit dwells there...and it's amazing! I've attended a couple other non-denom's and they were similar.

They are a little different than some protestant services but you will enjoy it...just go in seeking they Lord and you will find Him, knock and the door will be opened.

Peace and grace to you.

My church believes that the Bible is the authoritative word of God, and that Jesus is the only way we can be saved by our sins.

The church service may or may not be like a Protestant church. Mine is not -- it offers an "emergent" worship service.

I hope you enjoy your time with the Lord tomorrow!
