A woman friend just ended her relationship with her boyfriend yesterday. For a year i've been acting as a confidant to her. I call her the night she broke up to cheer her up, because she's been crying all night. I've known her for over a year.

How long do you think I should wait for her to calm down to ask her out to a movie or some sort of a friendly date? I really like her.

I'm good friends with her ex, and i know any move i make could end my friendship with him. But i don't really care. They had been dating for over 3 years until they broke up.

Ok, The first thing is to not lose the buddy and not get the girl either. Either get the girl and lose the friend or keep the friend and lose the girl.
For sure, tread very lightly. Just meet for a coffee or lunch or something else that's mundane. NO DATES! And don't even bring up the subject.....You're butt will be covered either way. Do not ask her out on a date yet. Just say, Hey, I'm going to such and such for a quick lunch, wanna meet me there?.....Hey, need a coffee?
After a safe time you'll begin to get an idea on where her head is at. It may or may not be after you....Stay close to her very innocently and let her give you an idea of the future. This way you don't look like a boob if she doesn't want to have a thing with you and the x-boyfriend doesn't think you're a vulture waiting for the kill.
Patience is the key here. Go slow, you have a shot, go fast you're taking an awful chance.....Remember, there's always the chance that they'll get back together, no matter what you wish. If you go slow, you won't embarass yourself if that happens.

For every year the relationship lasted, add a week to one week. So, four weeks I'd say, unless she's a serial monogamist who finds someone new fast! Try to feel it out. When she seems like she has picked up the pieces of her life and started to think about moving on. If you are friends, you should be able to find out how she's doing. But if you want a number/estimate, I'd say 3-4 weeks ought to do it. By then, she may be wanting to get back in the saddle.

honestly give it a couple of weeks. but im totally going through the same problem but in a different way. i like this guy and he likes me and he broke up with his girlfriend and hes debatin askin me out or what not and i dont know if i should say yes cause i dont know if he has had enough time but it's been two weeks. I really do think you should wait a bit, 3 weeks?? i know it doesn't seem like a long time but if they were to get back together during those three weeks would be the time to do it...... good luck though!!

If it grew to become right into a severe dating, wait a on an identical time as. Its gonna take her a on an identical time as to recover from issues & u dont wanna be a rebound. If it wasnt severe, choose for it precise away. She'll enable u understand if shes waiting by skill of her answer. Dont take it very own if she turns u down, she would in basic terms want time to think of.

Just as friends she is fair game within a 2 week period. Anything else like a real date......you are gonna have to wait a while for that.

It's okay to hang out as friends for a while- it could help her get her mind off things- confidant though- too bad you let her tell you all about everything- try not to let her talk about him ALL the time...
