Is your car "addicted" to gasoline? or does it take gas to get your car to run?
For some of us with depression, the old brain doesn't make the right chemicals anymore (for one reason or another) for us to be able to function. Anti-depressants act much in the way "starting fluid" works to get the old engine running again. For some of us we have no other choice than to use antidepressant medication as an "alternative fuel" because there have been such drastic changes in the brain that it will never make what's missing again.
I'm trying to say anti-depressants are NOT ADDICTIVE.

Addictive in the way that your body/brain becomes dependent on them and you need to be weened off of them if you want to stop. Not addictive in the way heroin or nicotine is where you crave the drug everyday.
