For the same reason people believe[d] Professional wrestling is real , that G.W.Bush had a plan , that Santa Clause exists , that their wife is faithful , that Sadam had WMD , that Astrology has any meaning other than entertainment , that Hiro Hito was a god , that Sun Yung Moon is god , that there are [ Scientology ] criminals from other galaxies down in the volcanos , and on and on . We all need something to believe in from time to time , no matter how stupid it is ! I believe I'm going to hit the lottery someday . At least it's simple . It doesn't require me to attend weekly meetings or live in fear of hell . What DO I believe as far as where it all came from in the begiining ? I believe the world is so vast and complicated that our small intellects can not understand it . Not anymore than a bacterium can understand the workings of a nuclear reactor . I CAN understand that there is NOT an all loving AND all powerful "god" entity looking down on us with care . Otherwise the Earth would not be filled with so much pain , suffering and confusion for all the humans and animals . Little Duke Ali'l : You say it is "beyond human comprehension" ... And then you go on and define your "God" . See anything wrong there ?

One can see for themselves in a scientific way what creates everything. For example, take a plant and place it in a dark room and give it no water. Soon one will find the plant dies. One will deduce, the plant is sustained by sun and water.
Or take seeds of a plant and place them in soil and water and take other seeds and place them in the refrigerator. One will deduce plants come from seeds, that need to be aired and watered.
Live a life where you are kind, caring, generous, ethical and harmless. One will deduce happiness and well-being come from these things.
Accept fully in your mind by repeated reflection, that old-age, sickness and death must come to all people. One will have no fears about and be at peace with these life events.
The human mind is capable of asking many questions however only two questions are important or essential, which are:
(1) How does human suffering arise? What is it and what are its causes?
(2) How does human suffering end? What is it and how does one bring it about?
How does well-being arise? What good thing must I do so I can live? This has always been the essential human question.
Whether God or nature created the universe is unimportant.

My sense of reality must be finely honed. No matter how hard I try, the Sky Man remains elusive. I don't need all the answers as long as the answers I have are grounded with good science and evidence. The rest will follow.

Yeah, but do you believe in the right Invisible Sky Man? Because only one of them actually leads to salvation.

You bet. And I also believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe that.
Whoops... sorry... no i don't... that's insane.
Never mind.

The difference between the two is that science attempts to explain things with observation and facts.

NO I don't have all the answers but I'd rather lack answers than have ones that are wrong and stupid as you put it.

I may not have all the answers, but I've read more than just that one book, so I have enough.
