There is no need to invade China in order to protect Taiwan.
Remember what the purpose of the war is - and then ask what things will achieve that purpose. In this case a naval blockade of China; sink any Chinese ship in the strait of Taiwan; achieve air supremacy over Taiwan; and selected air strikes against Chinese bases that are threatening Taiwan.
There is simply no need for ground troops to invade China.

It would depend on what grounds is China invading Taiwan. I don't think the US can fight a war on two different shores. And China would not declare war on the US. Why should they? The US is borrowing money from China. Why would China want to stop that?

Why have treaties if you're not going to honor them?
As to your question...There's a huge difference between invading and defending.
Since Taiwan is an inland nation, the USA could simply assure that Taiwan's capabilities to be supplied (by air or sea) could not be stopped, by either Naval or Air power. It's really hard to invade an island when they're ready for your attack. (case in point Great Britain, during The Battle of Britain WWII).
Also More does not necessarily mean better, just as new does not guarantee superiority. The USA recently supplied Taiwan with the Aegis system, a state of the art electronics warfare system that ties in all defenses which would enable Taiwan's defensive forces to work in concert, and more efficiently. It has been proven in combat against the very military inventory you mention. So...like I've said, "more does not necessarily mean better, or new does not guarenteee superiority."

The U.S. is not obligated to defend Taiwan under the Taiwan Relations Act. "React" doesn't mean "defend". If the U.S. decided to defend Taiwan in case of an invasion, it is because of the strategic value of Taiwan situated in the middle of the East Asia Chain. China is no fool. They won't launch attack without preparation. They know the consequence.
They have another weapon- the U.S. debts. China can dump the huge load of U.S. debts into the market. The U.S. interest rates will shoot up overnight which will lead to the collapse of U.S. dollar and recession.
Do you still think we should invade China?

The Taiwan Relations Act DID NOT stated that the US is OBLIGATED to DEFEND TAIWAN.
The Taiwan Relations Act stated that the United States will *assist* the people of Taiwan when necessary. However, it DID NOT stated what kind of *assistance* the United States is going to provide. Military actions? Diplomatic announcement? or Supply the Taiwans?
I was born in Taiwan and I am in U.S right now. I know what's going on.

First of all China is hypersensitive these days about it's rep, I doubt they would put everything at risk for a tiny island that has no resources to speak of. That's not to say that the Chinese aren't doing some deplorable things these days, supporting Sudan, protecting the junta in Myanmar, propping up dictators in Africa to secure cheap resources...but they tend to take a quiet, behind the scenes aproach...nothing too direct. I don't know how more direct you can get than invading a small democratic island that isn't a threat to you. Not to mention the fact that many companies in mainland China are owned by Taiwanese businesses. Unless the Taiwanese decide to attack China I don't see it happening. We could simply help the Taiwanese to build up a nuclear arsenal for themselves...I think that might force the Chinese to change thier attitude towards Taiwan.

Good Lord no. We have enough wars on our plate now. Besides we are a major trading partner with China. They don't want to make us mad. I don't think they will invade Taiwan. I believe the major powders of the world now know the futility of wars. The wars now are economic. The third world nations are still waging wars to get their piece of the pie.

America, World Police will probably try to back down from this one. However, I believe that we will eventually have to fight those little (insert your favorite explative insult here) Not only is America on their hit list, it is published military doctrine. If we were smart, we would wipe them off the map before they have anymore time to prepare. Otherwise we may get into a war that we cannot win. How are you planning on paying back the twenty billion dollars that each and every American owes them. Can you say, "What can I get you Master" Because that is what will happen if we dont stop them in Taiwan.....

America is not powerful enough to mount such an invasion, any attempt to do so will trigger WW3.
China is well able to take Taiwan with the equipment she has she does not need any aircraft carriers to help with the job.
In fact China could pound Taiwan to rubble with massed artillery fire from the Chinese mainland if she so wished.
