It's a Remington Sportsmen '48 and for some reason i can't get the slide to come out. Any ideas?

Take a look at the break down link below. You will see part 59 the shell catcher. You have to put your finger in from the bottom and press this down and your slide should come out. Be very careful. There are many sharp edges in there that will cause you to leak.

Slide? That shotgun doesn't have a slide. It is an auto loader. It has a forearm and a bolt.

Might be frozen from rusting. Have a gunsmith check it out for safety before you attempt to use it.

Spray WE 40 on it and let it set for a week then try
