not necessarily since her mother is elderly and ill. she may not feel she has time for dates. if you feel she is worth it, you can offer to help her with her mother and that may give you time together that you may not have otherwise, and she may think very much more highly of you for that and try to make more time for you as well.

No its not necessarily over. I have went threw both of my parents dying and it strained my relationship but once I did my daughterly duty things were back on track. If you are possibly close to her family you could help her. I am sure she would appreciate the help. Good Luck!
