Do you think it is safe?

I have tried online dating. I do think it's safe, you just have to take precautions.

Don't tell anyone too much about you, like your address or where you work.

Don't meet anyone in an area you are unfamiliar with & make sure a couple of friends call to "check-in" with you. If you get a bad feeling go with it.

I have never met any weirdos. the only thing I notice though is that people seem more picky when they looking for a date online. They seem to rely alot more on looks and are less open about people who they don't immediatley click with or who don't share the exact same interests.

It's only as safe as you make it. Both guys and girls should take precautions when meeting someone from online in person. Meet in public places, don't go to your first meeting alone, have an "escape plan" (in addition to having at least one other person with you, have a plan to either call someone or have them call you at an appointed time...have a code phrase that sounds innocent to those around you, but is a trigger to the caller that all is ok or not.) It sounds kinda "007-ish", but could save your life.

As for have I ever actually met someone from online; yes, several people---including my husband.

As safe as meeting people any other way. You meet the same people on-line that you meet at the mall.

Just make the first meeting at a public place; that way he doesn't know where you live if you don't like him.

I met a few friends that way. Same as the old fashioned way.
