Christians, is this a form of witchcraft? Where can I get a solid answer for a friend who is not saved and is questioning if his son should be wearing this bracelet. Is this not something that people who practice Santeria (witchcraft) give to their newborns? Can this child be effected spiritually by wearing this bracelet.

He is affected by generational witchcraft. Anything that is materially satanic can have demons attached to it and will torment the child and his family.

OK f folks there is no witchcraft involved. The black hand or mano de asabache is considered a talisman to protect a newborn from the evil eye. Its usually worn on a baby bracelet or pinned in the inside of a coat. Usually given to a child from a sincere family member who asks god, the saints and angels to protect a newborn from spiritual harm. Spanish people do this as well as Italians old school. You guys have been watching to much paranormal witness. Some folks believe some don't and some folks like below are just ignorant. Educate yourselves.

This is not Christian;-{ where did your friend hear of this?
In latin America, Azabache Bracelets are worn to protect against the Mal de ojo, or evil eye. The evil eye is believed to result of excessive admiration or envious looks by others. Having newborn babies wear an azabache (a gold bracelet or necklace with a black or red coral charm in the form of a fist), is believed to protect them from the evil eye.[1]

It is important what is in a persons heart (beliefs). A baby has no beliefs.

Well, Christians are not supposed to be superstitious, so I guess technically you shouldn't do it. I don't know what the bracelet is, but you are supposed to trust God to protect you, not charms. I don't really think the child could be harmed, since it is not his CHOICE to wear it, it is something put on him. He doesn't understand the meaning. To get a true answer, have you friend ask the preacher or minister of her church, since different Christians Churches believe different weight is given to the same things.

I'm a Christian and I never heard of such a bracelet. So I looked it up. It's a bracelet that guards against the 'evil eye'. I think it has nothing to do with christian religion and a lot to do with superstition.

As a Puerto Rican, I know that traditions such as this are passed from generation to generation. What makes the azbache different than any other symbol in any other tradition? The cross, the Star of David? These symbol serve what purpose? Jesus died on the cross for what? Definitely not so we could wear it around our necks. Christianity as well as Islam states no creation of god should be mimicked. So the wooden cross Jesus died should not be held/ worn as a symbol or idol. Christians are so judgmental. The azbache bracelet is no different than the symbols you routinely put around your necks and pray and hold sacred . How did u learn to wear the cross? Through tradition! Same with the azbache, it was passed through tradition whether right or wrong. If evil comes to you it will come with or without the azbache, diamond, cross, star or whatever u think will protect and save you. The only protection is God himself. Don't point fingers unless your hand is clean. And don't judge tradition.
