Cruise control system enable the car to drive at a set speed-i.e you press a button to set a specific desired speed and this speed is set for eg 45 miles/hr. This helps avoid overspeeding unknowingly. Some low speeds cannot be set for cruise control system, eg 10miles/hr.
To cancel this set speed, just tap on the brake or clutch pedal. The speed can be reset again or even higher speeds. I hope this helps.

Cruise control on a car is a vacuum comtrolled device that when set, keeps the vehicle speed at the set speed. It has only one button labelled Set. When the brake, or clutch is depressed it is turned off, and must be reset again.
Newer vehicles are fitted with an automatic speed control. Unlike the cruise control, it doesn't turn off when the clutch or brake is depressed, it only pauses the speed operation and when the resume button is pressed it will return to the set speed. Most have 3 buttons, Off/On, Set/Decel/ Resume/ Accel.

cruise control is used when you are traveling on an interstate or other major highway where traffic is moving right along with no stops and what you do is get up to whatever speed you want and set the cruise control for that speed and then you do not have to touch the gas unless you use the brakes. i suggest that you read your owners manual that came with your car so you know exactly how the cruise control works

Cruise Control is a feature that allows your car to travel at a speed you select with out you pressing the gas pedal. Its great for highway travel, when you are going 60, 65 (or more) with no traffic, because you can keep a steady speed and relax your leg.

Plus it saves on gas, because it less excel and decel.
