I have a Canon Powershot Pro S3 IS which I absolutely love, and I am looking to get a decent (and resonably priced) zoom lens. Its more a hobby thing, so I dont need "professional" equipment. I have no idea what I am looking for or which direction to head towards. Any help/opinions would be great! Thank you!

Again, this reinforces the reason to get a DSLR over a point & shoot. No matter how great the specs are, when you open the box - that's all you have.

A point & shoot type camera is pretty much a closed system. Sure, you can add "telephoto" and "wideangle" lens attachments to the front, but they're like clamp on skates. If a photographer has ANY dream of moving onward with their photo interests, then a DSLR is the right move.

Your camera has a 12x optical zoom. How much more do you need? Plus you can't change lenses anyway.

Although Canon offers "add-on" lenses for the front of the lens, its likely you'll have some image degradation. I'd stay away from them.

I think you need to read and study your camera's Owner's Manual again and learn to get the most out of your camera.
