We had a pure bred long haired " Chi-Wow-Wow"
and the only problem we had was the first time
we gave her a bath, all of her hair fell out.
When I called the people where we got her.
They said to bring her back because
they were having all the puppies put to
sleep because there was
something wrong with them.
My husband got on the phone with all of
his biker friends & everyone agreed
to rescue those puppies.
We called the people back & Ben got on the phone
& told him the Coven would take the puppies
& that was it.
Barq's lived for 8 years, we had her fixed.
Two months after all of her hair fell out,
it started to come back in.
So did the other puppies.
So, we were relatively happy,
we saved 6 little puppies from the needle.

I have taken in rescue dogs and I will never do it again. It is not worth the heartache or the money. I have never had one that didn't cost a fortune in vet bills. Then there were the behavior problems to deal with.
I finally said, ENOUGH and did research on what I wanted in a dog. I now have two Maltese brothers. They are everything I wanted and more. They are like little people. I love the fact they were bred to be lap dogs. They are funny and entertaining. I have a disease so I am at home almost 24/7. I don't know what I would do without these two boys. I really need to write a book about them.

I had 2 black labs brother and sister for 16yrs they died the same year. They were bought from a farm out in the country. They were great dogs I raised them from 6 wks old. I have been lucky in my life to have had several different breeds for lots of years a few beagles they are also wonderful dogs. But it seems like the best ones were the ones that were rescues either from the side of the road or the pound. Its like they know you rescued them and they want to please you more than any store bought or puppy mill dog. I will never "buy" another dog or cat there are too many that need homes in shelters for anybody to ever "buy" one all you have to do is go online and look at the humane society no doubt you'll find a little soul that you can't live without.

I have never personally got a puppy from a breeder, but I work at a vet clinic, and I know many people who were disappointed with their 'pure breed' dog that they got from a 'breeder'. All of these cases were from people who bought their puppy from a breeder over the Internet. One lady got a Coton De Tuler and it was shipped by air plane. When she picked the puppy up off the plane, she was VERY sick! She was thin, cold, and hypoglycemic. We treated the puppy, and she is okay now. But this lady learned the hard way not to buy a puppy over the Internet.
Another lady that came in bought a 'pure breed' yellow Labrador retriever from a 'breeder' off the Internet. When she received her puppy she was VERY small. She thought that the breeder lied to her about the puppy's age, or this puppy was just an extremely small runt. As the puppy got older, we realized that this was a lab mix puppy, she only got to be about 20 pounds. She found a new home for the first puppy (something I personally didn't agree with, I would have kept her), and ended up going to a reputable breeder for her next pure breed yellow lab puppy. She also learned the hard way not to buy a puppy over the internet.

I had a Great Dane and even though he suffered from an enlarged heart i was not disappointed. He was a breed apart a lovely dog--intelligent---loved children---trustworthy which is all important with a dog. We had some great times,he loved the beach and the water and every day we went there in the car and it was a sight to see him running into the water, majestic like a racehorse .However his heart condition killed him at about 8 years of age. I miss him dearly

Bindi is my only "true" pure bred. I'm sure Max is to, but he's a rescue, so there's no way of knowing for sure.
Am I disappointed? No way. I wanted a belgian malinois for several years, and finally found a breeder in my area, and they're great. In a couple years I'll definately go back to them for another pup.
I love my mix breeds, but I love my pure bred too. I wanted specific traits, and I got them.

A local breeder who I've gotten great, healthy pups from didn't have a pup at that time so she hooked me up with an out of state breeder who she recommended highly. We drove across two state lines to get the pup and brought her home with fleas. Boy was I mad, I ended up with a flea infestation, 2 dogs and 1 pup with fleas. The pup definitely wasn't a disappointment though and after the fact I was happy to have her.

I *adopted* a pure bred lab (as far as anyone can tell he is...) and I'm not disappointed. I saw a big, goofy, black dog in the pound that gave me a look with the sweetest eyes that begged, "take me home!" And I did...wouldn't have it any other way.

I think that it depends on the breeder, where the breeder got the dog's from and how the dog was treated where ever it was before you got it.I have a pure bred American Pit Bull Terrier and I have yet to be disappointed. He is really spoiled and really sweet. My daughter loves him and he loves her.He also loves my cats but the feeling isn't mutual. I met his parents and the breeder before my pup's mom was even pregnant. Here, there are lots of people who fight them so I had to look for almost a year for a good, honest breeder. I wanted to see all of his dogs before I bought mine. I also have a puppy that I just got from the shelter and she is also very sweet. She is a chow/Shepard mix. She doesn't listen but she is still a baby so that should be expected. She growls at my pit bull but I think she is trying to tell him that she is the alpha dog and not him. He submits so I guess its fine. But I love both my dogs and I am very happy to have them.
