Something that doesn't exist can't play a role. Now the people who believes it exists.....that's another story.

Reminds me of a joke that a friend sent me through e-mail... It goes like this:

A college professor and his class were talking about the big bang. Then one of the students raises his hand and says "The big bang isn't real. GOD created the world."
The professor then says, "We will see about that", and stands on top of a desk and yells "God, if you are there, then make me fall from on top of this desk within the next 10 seconds".
1 second passes.
then 2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Then the student who raised his hand punched the professor and pushed him off the table.
The student said "God is too busy protecting soldiers in Iraq to deal with atheists like you!"

The End.

I know what you are thinking. Either the person who sent that is a huge fundie or being sarcastic. Sadly, its the former. So, apparently, God is protecting soldiers in Iraq. That must explain why dozens are dieing everyday, right?

So, according to the maker of the joke listed above, God's role in Iraq has been protecting the soldiers from Jihadists who *never* succeed, right? God protected us from 9/11, right? Or was it a punishment (as Fred Phelps says)?

If god was there, I doubt he would let the Iraq war go on as it is now. Iraq is just like Vietnam. Of course, you will get many different answers.

According to Proverbs 21, "The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; He directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases."

God is sovereign and in control of all events including the Iraq war.

The idea of God has been in support of both sides doing the best to do their worst to the other guy.... The idea of god has been right in the thick of things from the little guys ducking bullets to the biggest political guys saying "Rah. Rah. Rah. - Blah. Blah. Blah. God wants it this way." The idea of God... has been used.

God actually hasn't had a role... because God isn't real.
