Basically debating on weather I should get either the
Sharp Aquos 42 inch LCD HDTV with 1080p which also comes with a hometheater system for 2000 dollars from futureshop.
Or should I get a Panasonic 42inch Flat Panel- Plasma HDTV with 720p, and it also omes with a home theater system all of 1800 dollars... The price really doesnt matter, Im just wondering what would be a better buy for my family. We need a TV to watch mainly televison shows in our family room, but also for gaming and watched hd movies... Reccomendations?

Get the Sharp Aquos 1080P HDTV. The Sharp Aquos line has excellent quality picture. The Panasonic you show as an alternate choice is only 720P HDTV. The 1080P HDTV will give you the BEST picture over the 720P HDTV when you eventually get that HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD player.

Also, make sure you upgrade your cable or satellite service to the HD packages that are offered. I was really disappointed in the picture quality of my digital cable service. Just because it says it's digital cable doesn't mean that's it's HD quality. Most basic digital cable or satellite signals are 480i or 480sd quality. HD digital cable/satellite will give you at LEAST 720P. Check your cable/satellite service to see what they offer in the way of HD packages, 720p or 1080p.

Good luck and please post your decision. I'd like to know if I was able to help. Thanks.

Plasmas, generally speaking, have better pictures. Burn-in, longevity and power consumption really aren't an issue. The only time I'd recommend an LCD over a plasma is if you will be watching your TV in a bright room.
