i got a ps3 and i think 720p look better but i am confused because 1080i is larger number

720p is better. You have to look at the i and p. i means it's interlaced, which means that lines are displayed in alternating patterns, while p means it's progressive, where the lines are displayed at once.

So, 720p is 720 lines being displayed at the same time, while 1080i is 1080 lines being displayed alternately (you see 540 lines that turns on and off).

It all depends who is doing the deinterlacing; the ps3 or the TV?

If your PS3 outputs 720p, it does all the work, and the TV just displays.

If your PS3 outputs 1080i, the TV converts that signal to 720p, its native resolution.
In your case, looks like the Ps3 is doing a better job than the TV.

Depends if your game is written in 720 or not...

If it is, then the 720 is the obvious choice of resolutions...
Upconverting/downconverting any signal changes it....and it's never for the better...
