Ok, he hasn't gotten sick thus far but my dog has been eating insects.. in particular moths and sometimes cockroaches. Seeing as it's moth season at the moment there are heaps and heaps, as he's only a puppy he gets excited by anything that moves so if he sees a moth on the ground or even a cockroach he'll chase it for his own entertainment and eventually end up eating it. I'm worried that he will end up eating a much more harmful insect... But as for cockroaches and moths, does anyone think that this will effect him?

It is natural for puppies to chase moving things. Many dogs like to chase then eat insects. It won't harm your dog unless the cockroaches are contaminated with pesticide.

Why are you so worried? You do know that before people started acting like it is a sin for a dog to stay outside that dogs ate insects and no telling what else? How do you know what your dog eats when you are not around? Its a DOG! They eat all kinds of crazy stuff.

My 11 month old pup loves to eat bugs too. I let him go to it, I can't see where they would hurt him. He weighs 70 lbs. and a few bugs won't hurt him.

nah, I don't think so, but I'd try to correct him if possible when you catch him doing it, you certainly wouldn't want him eating a bee or anything.
