Not a Waltrip-hater here, but Toyota wanted to make a statement, and 5 of the top 6 qualifiers are running Toyota, and you have to go all the way to 43rd to get to DJ. That being said, Toyota has a huge problem. They set up their cars for qualifying, and they can't touch them until the first pitstops. Their tires won't last 20 laps, and their first pitstops will take longer than everyone else because they are going to have major adjustments to switch over to a fuel mileage race. Someone asked earlier if the chasers held back. No, their cars are set up for the long run. Quick pits, hook up with teammates and draft to the end.

I'm kind of at a loss at what happened today - didn't see qualifying. What the heck? It's nice to see Waltrip qualified for a race, let alone on the pole. What is up down there in Talladega? Did they reverse the field? WOW.........should be a very interesting race tomorrow. Did you see who else is in the top 15? Andretti, Labonte, Petty among others. Those guys are rarely in the front. Can't wait for tomorrow. I'm hoping it is not a free-for-all in the first few laps.

The qualifying results are not a true indicator of where the teams are going to run! The plate races rarely do! Jr never Qualifies good but always a car to beat in the race!

If you look closer at the results you'll see that all the top 10 qualifying times were cars on the Go or go home list! These teams went all out for qualifying and said screw race setup until we make the race!

If you a Mikey fan look back to Kansas for better insight into what gains the team is making! I think all three MWR cars were in the top 20! This is a good sign!

All that being said at the plate races ANYTHING can happen! I don't expect the to see any of the top 10 qualifers near the front for long! 48,24,20,8,2 and many others will make their way to the front quick enough! They just need to becareful because those front guys aren't going to be used ot racing together and it might turn into an ugly mess very early!

Micheal knows how to work the draft at a plate race. All his career wins are plate races. Can the car compete? We will find out. Judging by the qualifying results we know that the guys who had to get in on time qualified really well and probably worked very hard on qualifying which is why so many of them are up front. You work with what you are given and they did that. Chances are we will see them fall back quickly just like New Hampshire when Blaney was on the pole. They didn't work on race setups because they had to qualify and it was more important.

Even though they were focused on the Qualifying and not the race itself, it is still incredible! And I am not a fan of Toyota, but I do like Waltrip and I like competition. So I hope he does well and I hope Toyota becomes a decent competitor in the future.

I am very pleased that MIKEY won the pole for two reasons. For 1 it is great because he has had a ton of problems this year with the switch to Toyota and they have been working hard to even make it into races. For the 2nd reason that I like it is I had him in my Nascar league and I got 10 points for that, so THANKS MIKEY!!! I can't decide if I should take Mikey or David Ragan in the race though. Even if I don't take him it would still be great for him if he fairs well in the race. My favorite for this race and every race is JEFF GORDON.
Go Jeff and get that TROPHY!!!!!

I am so happy for MWR after the year they've had. To get all 3 cars in the race is awesome! I hope they lead laps and finish great in the race tomorrow. They are in qualifying trim, but you have to get into the race to have a chance to win it. I'll be cheering for them, it's Talledaga and anything can happen.
Go MWR!!!

Toyota does well in every other kind of racing and it was just a matter of time before they figured NASCAR out. I'm going to stay a Ford fan, and 99 is my favorite, but I'm glad Toyota is in NASCAR, and hope other car companies come so NASCAR can keep growing. I just wish Darryl was announcing this race. It would be so much fun to hear how excited Darryl would be when Mikey takes the green flag.
