lol!

This is something we cover in the first week of critical thinking under the contradictions in theory section. Naturally, saying there are no absolutes is contradictory because that is an absolute.

And that sucks because I'm a relativist.

No...

Because there ARE absolutes (like in math...2+2=4 that's an absolute) but nothing else can be PROVEN it's only approximately true, but not absolutely.

I think the arugment there would be that Yes they would be in a certain way.

The "No Absolutes"/PostModernist group of people say we live in a certian condition of Uncertainty.

So the only certainty we have is that Uncertainty.

There are many absolutes. The fact that I that I don't know what they are does not alter the existance of the certainty of that there are absolute facts of life and death and of the universe in which we dwell. I am staking my life on that!

Ah, but there IS an absolute:

HOPE is the absolute, and the only reason for living. It is not loss of battle that determines loss of struggle, but loss of hope. By the same token, the only quality that validates life(and all life IS struggle) is hope. Without hope, one's existence is purposeless; it is necessary that we either have hope, or that others have hope for us. Hope is the basic, necessary ingredient for life.

To state that there are no absolutes is itself an absolute.
