You are preaching the truth my friend. If i have to see that stupid draft tracker one more time. Do you ever notice how they talk about the draft at every single track? Im sorry but the draft just isnt a factor at Watkins Glen. Rusty Wallace is the John Madden of racing coverage and Dr jerry punch is a bafoon. I cant wait until FOX. I wish they would have it all year. Heck i would even take NBC over ESPN. Currently if you wanna hear some great racing commentary you have to watch F1s commentators for the speed channel, they have the same chemistry that mike, larry, and DW have for NASCAR...Cant wait till the Daytona 500 and just not for the racing if you know what i mean.

Most people that waste there time to ask about what you think about a TV coverage in a racing type Q&A forum does hate the the channel they install into there Q.
I personally can't stands Speeds coverage. I see just as many comercials as anyone else does on Speed and yes they (Speed not ESPN) seemed to be on a comercial break at every caution and during the truck race they came back one time and didn't even say what the caution was for.
I personally think the air movement might be over done on certain tracks but this weekend it would be nice to see it.
I am not a big fan of the tech thing either. Not that I know everything like you do, it's just something I don't think I need to know to make my life compleat.
SO I am going to put you down as a either a poorly paid critic from another cannel or a complainer. Watch the race and listen to it on the radio.

I am very disappointed in the ESPN coverage. I remember when ESPN and TNN were the only television coverage of NASCAR, and it seemed much better then. Ned Jarrett was the announcer, maybe that made a difference.
I really thought that ABC/ESPN would use the split screen for commercials, like they did for the IRL, but they haven't.
They will even leave coverage of the race to show Tim Brewer, or part of the warm up show that didn't get aired prior to opening ceremonies, which can be very frustrating.
I don't have subscription radio, but I do get MRN/PRN, and usually have that on for the play by play while the race is running with the TV muted.

I like the people answering this question and trying to convince you that NASCAR sucks. It makes me wonder why their so attracted to the NASCAR section. I think they're jealous. But yeah... ESPN does the weakest coverage, and they talk too much about other sports while we're trying to watch the race. They need to focus on the issue at hand and not use the NASCAR audience to plug the other sports.

I have to agree with you on this one. ESPN may be excellent at covering other sports but they need to get out of NASCAR. You are preaching the truth. Keep up the faith!!! :)

Typically, after Fox loses its coverage, the best races are when you turn on XM Satellite and watch the race on whatever network with the volume muted. Directv Hotpass isn't bad either. But those radio guys can paint a picture and give you insight like their jobs depended on it. Rusty and his ESPN crew, it seems, are so caught up with their own egos that I wonder if they even watch the races. Twice now, I've heard Rusty berating other drivers with his rating system. He knows his stuff about the cars of yesterday. It's a new day, a new car, and a new league of gentlemen (who sometimes need a good brawl). :)

You're not a complainer - you speak the truth. What I REALLY can't stand is how they run the running orders at the top of the screen - the running order for the Chase is just below the running order for the actual race. It's too confusing.
Speaking of commercials...I remember seeing one of the races early this season - either on FOX or TNT where there were so many cautions that they announced that they had fulfilled their sponsor obligation & the remainder of the race was shown with NO commercials!!

I agree with you 100% but there is nothing we can ever do about it. I think that they all should go get jobs at Dairy Queen and leave the commentating to someone like Rusty who happens to be the only one who knows anything about racing.
They are too loud and I just hate the way they do it. I thought Fox was bad till they put the races on ESPN.

Im with you, they suck... yes, the tech center with the cut away crap with the announcer that talks to us like we have never seen a car before.. and yes, the announcers in the booth suck too... I would rather watch all the commercials on local tv ..
Put all the races on Speed where they belong!!!!!
