Not sure that I like things that say "God created..." or "God spoke to Noah..." and then find out that they should be taken metaphorically or figuratively. It just seems to make the whole thing even less believable.

Language can be quite confusing in general. Expressions come and go, words come and go and/or change meanings. A story written for one audience may not translate very well to another audience, even during the same times.
With that being said, the Bible is full of truths, read it and let your soul interpret things, let your heart guide you. There are many other great texts as well which you can read today that contain the same truths though written in an easier to understand way (at least for the people of today).

No...not when it is ministered to the saved by the Holy Spirit. I thought somebody must have rewritten the bible the first time I opened it after being saved
