turned on by itself? Can someone explain please? There is no set timer on it and it hasn't happened in the two years I have lived in the house. Its only me and my children and all three were asleep.

It really happened, I was scared because i didn't know where it was coming from until I went out there and saw it on.

Several possible reasons.

1. A slight power flicker
2. A car passed by and the reflective frequency could have been the same type of frequency that trips the TV's wireless signal. This happened in my home several times, and finally once in front of me standing in my living room and several times a car went past my home when it happened. We have electrical pulses in the air all the time from wireless radios, cell phones, pagers, satelites, etc.
3. A ghostly visitor is trying to get your attention, or just wanting to watch some TV.

None of these are a reason to be alarmed... just go about your business normally.

if you have a pet---cat or dog--they may have accidentally stepped on the remote. Then again, it might be a message from a Higher Power. Back in Dec, 1967, I literally saw the clock in my bedroom start to go BACKWARDS--not fast, but steadily backwards. Less than 30 minutes later I got the call that my mother had died. Others have died around me since then, but that was the ONLY time I had something spooky happen. It never happened again since then.

As I explained in your other question, someone that has passed on to the other side is trying to contact you. There is nothing evil about that. Our loved ones are on the other side and are often used as guardian angels to look after us. You must have someone in your family that is concerned about you. Think of them as it takes alot of effort mentally for the dead to shut power off and on and come through tvs and radios etc. I know this to be true. I am not a devil worshipper I do believe in God.

If you were praying, how do you know the kids were really asleep?
Also, any form of remote (garage door, tv, telephone) may have hit the right frequency for your set to turn on.

Most likely explanation: the switch was turned part way on. After sitting for a while, it finally slid into the full ON position. Of one thing you can be sure: no supernatural intervention was involved in this -- or in anything else, ever.
