Why would someone shave a SHORT haired cat?
Pleeeease explain this to me if you know of a reason that I'm missing out on.
The only reason I can come up with is that they think its funny or cute, or maybe they think its gonna stop the shedding.
Any others?

There are a lot of different reasons.

The cat in the picture is groomed similar to how Persians are groomed. Perhaps someone was practicing his or her grooming skills in order to perfect it for a job.
Or there may have been surgery for which the cat needed to be shaved.
A lot of cats are allergic to flea dander, so shaving, washing, and an application of flea medication might have been necessary for this cat.
The owners themselves may love the cat and have developed an allergy to the cat's dander; shaving the cat may have been one way to reduce the dander and make for a better environment for everyone.
The cat may have had a skin condition that required medication and shaving the cat was the best way to apply the medication.
Or, as someone else said, something may have spilled on the cat and this was the best way to remove it.

Does your cat like being at your neighbors? Unfortunately, cats sometimes have more than one home and prefer being at someone else's even after you've spent money and hours on her/him. I took in a stray siamese and got him neutered and all his shots and kept him inside for about 5 days. But after he got outside, he decided he liked the neighbors 9 siamese cats better than my own 3 tabby and black cat. At first I was pissed off, but am glad he found a happy home and I visit him often. Even though I spent money on him, I am glad my neighbor wanted him if he didn't want to be with us. There are enough unwanted cats in the world that you can find one that fits in with your household. Get over it and find one that is right for you. I am sorry you spent time in jail.

I saw that picture today, too, and I don't think this is real skin. I think I see seams on the insides of the legs just like the seams on people's leggings. Maybe someone dressed the cat in a costume.

One way I'd guess was if they were painting the room and he got into the paint really bad or tipped one of those paint holders over onto him.

It doesn't seem to be injury/allergy/surgery related. He's too short haired to have matts in the fur. My best guess is that he had something on that wouldn't wash off and he needed to be shaved to let new fur grow in.

Some people shave their long haired cats to keep the fur from getting matted, greasy, and dirty. I guess some people think it is easier than brushing their cats daily and taking them to the groomer on a regular basis.

the 2 answers above me are good. Another is shedding or if they think the cat is hot (though that is normally with long hair cats) And last but not least is some people thinks it is cute

He isn't shaved, it's pyjamas. Look at the seams on the legs & the buttons down the front. That's one mad kitty!

believe me, there are MANY reasons, reasons I can't even think of right now. If it doesn't look sick, just assume they had to and give the cat a break!

That is such a fake looking picture. Please don't belief everything you run across on the internet. People can do all sorts of things with photoshop.
