Your question is quite profound and you have even received some Biblical answers supporting marriage.

However, there is something called spirituality. For example, Jesus and his disciples did not have mates. Or, in the history of the world, there are many monastic spiritual traditions, where successful adherents find "their soul", which is the power, clarity and joy that naturally exists within them, underneath the reproductive instincts and fears that cover the surface of their "souls".

However, this is not an easy path. The path of spiritual independence is a very difficult path for many.

If you find your "soul" or "inner spirit", you will definitely not need a mate.

Sounds like confusion with an old saying. I think its more of finding someone that you are so much alike that you want to be with that person forever, as if they were what was missing in your life, in your soul. There was a movie once where a character called the 'soul mate' a 'split apart'. It went something like this, when you're in heaven and about to be born your actually one part of a two part soul, male and female, and when a new baby is born the souls are split apart. Its up to you to find that person here on earth. I found mine... Been married for 7 years now and have two beautiful babies.
Thing is, I was born several years before she was, but shes the one.

I don't know that it does! Personally, I handle life better if there is someone to take care of. I mean life is very easy to navigate, no challenge. I'm not talking being a rescuer personality, although I am very much that. I mean sharing ones life, and sharing the pain and joy, the defeats, the championships, the excitement, the boredom. I guess it's best said that I have had mates and I have been alone. I personally enjoy the company of another person.

Some use "Soul Mate" to just mean a very close friend. Others use it to mean strictly a love interest - the whole "Love at first Sight" thing.

Everyone has a soul. Why do we long for a mate? Because God created us to be fruitful and multiply. So far, I don't think that can be accomplished alone.

Why would you need a soul/spirit mate? Because love is everlasting.

To define you.

Like diamond we are defined by our own dust, but if we have no dust; then what value have we.

You souls can know love, but until you express it; what really do you know about it?

Sharing that which makes us who we are is what makes us who we are to a greater degree.

Plus it is the only way dance without looking like you are having an epileptic seizure on the dance floor. : )

Personally, I believe the notion of soul mate to be crap. There are any number of people that you could be compatible with, and they don't even have to be romantic partners. Just pick one.

God made woman to be a mate for man. I don't question His reasons. This is what i read in the Bible:
He did realize that Adam was lonely in the garden so he made him a companion (companionship).
After they sinned and both became aware of their nakedness and, I'm assuming they were made aware of their sexual desires, God made Eve Adam's wife (that takes care of the sexual desires), to help him and to bear children.
