Does it depend on how much I make an hour? I don't want to work so much overtime that I get taxed more and have a small check anyway. Anything over 40 hours is overtime/time in a half, I also get paid bi-weekly if that makes a difference. I am not in a management position

It depends on how much you make overall.

And if you have any other income and dependents

Not nearly enough info to guess, but you can go to www.irs.gov, download the employers tax guide with tax brackets and figure it out for yourself.

Without knowing how much you make, your filing status, dependents, and several other things, there's no way to answer your question.

But even if the overtime put you in a higher bracket, that higher percentage tax would only apply to the amount of your extra income that was over the bracket limit, it wouldn't make you pay more on your base income.

Your tax bracket is based on your ANNUAL earnings. Each paycheck is calculated as though you earn that much every payperiod to figure out your estimated annual earnings.

On weeks where you have an especially large check, it would be assumed that you earned a great deal each year and would be taxed accordingly.
