Believe it or not, vacuuming works for the carpet. Dawn (or Joy) detergent and water works for your Chi :)

We do not use any flea dips/flea shampoos at our work. We ONLY use either Dawn or Joy detergent and have never had a problem.

What have you used so far? Anything from a pet shop or supermarket, including collars, shampoos, sprays and 'bombs' are NOT going to work. Stores are not licensed to sell the proper drugs that work, but they try it anyway. Don't waste your money.

Go to a vets, this is where you'll find the stuff that works. Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate - all stuff that works. You will also be able to find a useful housespray at the vets - if you can get a vet to get some Skoosh for you, this is the newest and best stuff. Any other spray you get you will probably have to spray, then vacuum the next day then repeat this in about a week to get all the eggs that will have hatched in the interim.

Get frontline from your vet to rid your dogs of fleas and for your carpet vacuum your carpet at least every other day to suck the eggs out of the carpet and wash all the bedding blankets with a little ammonia added to kill the eggs.

Fleas hate garlic, but dogs don't. Get some garlic capsules from your local health food shop and add the contents of one or two to your Chihuahua's food every day. After a while you'll notice the fleas are gone. Until they're gone, comb regularly and don't forget to change the bag on your vacuum frequently.

I think to rid of those fleas you still need chemicals to do the job otherwise. just throw the carpet away.

I heard that vaccuming stimulates the eggs to hatch, so if you vaccum twice you will suck up the little buggers.

LYE SOAP. I DONT THINK THEY SELL IT ANYWHERE YOU HAVE TO FIND SOMEONE THAT MAKES IT. WE USED TO HAVE PUPPIES THAT HAD FLEAS PRETTY BAD AND WE BOUGHT SOME LYE SOAP AND USED IT ON THEM, IT WORKED INSTANTLY. ALSO DAWN DISHSOAP WORKS PRETTY GOOD.
