Yes and no. In order the uphold the warranty you have to do the recommended services. You just don't have to do them all at once or even at the dealer. If you wanted to do an oil change one month then a trans flush the next that's fine; even if they are at different places. Just make sure they are done by a certified mechanic and keep all records of service to show Hyundai in case you need warranty work. The only real advantage a dealer has is that they will keep a record of service in a database for reference. It would be harder to argue against warranty work since records are shown in their database and they are the ones servicing the car. Of course they should know the car better then a regular shop but Hyundai's aren't that hard to work on. Taking it to a good shop shouldn't be a problem.

I just bought aused '12 4.6 genesis with 23K on the odometer. I took it to a dealer to find out what the 30K service would cost me. the service writer says oil change, air filter, cabin air filter, fluid check, brake pin check, tire rotation. He said $300. I said holy crap.
for the most part any issues with the the brakes and tires would be called normal wear and tear and not covered under the warranty - so I'd expect them to find something. i'll take mine to a reputable mechanic to handle only theitems listedinteh manual. I will be sure to obtain writen documentaitonthat those items were addressed and keep it with my service records.
Once I found out Hyundai's infamous 10yr/100,000k mile warranty did not extend to a 2nd owner (now you know the real reason they can offer it - they rarely have to honor the full commitment), I have become very wary of dealing direct with Hyundai. As long as I document having the requisite maintenance performed by a qualified mechanic, Hyundai will be obligated to honor the basic 5/60 warranty. Don't allow yourself to become thier value stream.

30K services are designed to get your car into the shop and sell you something. Most cases, a car at 30K needs very little. Each car maker has different "requirements" at certain intervals, but they also have 2 different maintenence schedules to choose from. "Regular Service" and something called "Severe Service". Hyundai recommends oil changes at 7,500 miles for the maintenence schedule and 3,750 for severe. Either way, you are due for an oil change and an air filter, unless it was replaced earlier. Hyundai dealers perform an inspection of your car every time you come in, so let them look it over and recommend what is needed. But your maint book will tell you what is required.

we only get an oil and filter change. the dealer inspects the car and let's us know if anything else is needed. we have owned several hyundais and never had a problem with getting warranty work done. we now have an 05 elantra with 65,000 miles.
