Why are Mexicans still so eager to come to the United States?

I mean don't get me wrong... I'm an immigrant myself and I am not anti-immigrant, but why is it that people in Mexico still want to come? The per capita income is almost $12,000 and Mexico is a democracy. It's not like they are dying of hunger and are being oppressed. They are way better off than most people around the world!

The bottom line here is that many people in Mexico have the perception that it's better to be an undocumented immigrant in the United States than to be a citizen in the country of their origin.

Translation: Mexico sucks.
You've given an average per capita income... but that doesn't tell the whole story. The wealth in Mexico is concentrated in too few hands. The government of Mexido needs to institute a tax-and-spend program, similar to New Dealism, to build new infrastructure. This will provide jobs to the unemployed and underemployed, and be funded by taxes on the uber-rich.

So, President Calderon, if you're reading this, get off your duff and get a move on.

Well, for starters, they've got a false sense of entitlement. Also, employers hire illegal aliens for cheap labor --- that's like luring in a shark with squid.. They're going to continue coming until there is absolutely nothing left; after that, they'll move up towards Canada.

Yes Mexico is not so bad like other countries....and yes there is alot of people doing well in Mexico!!......bu there is also many families no doing so well they dont have enough money to buy food and other necessary things!!

Mexicao is not much of a democracy, corruption is rampant. THe mexican govenment does not want to stop the exodus. If they did, the people stuck there would probably start a revolution because of their bad standard of living.

Americans make on average more than 4 times that of a Mexican and therein lies the reason.

Austicias is a frequent poster on here; an American who has retired in Mexico on a "modest" income. He says he lives in Central Mexico, everyone is employed, has cars, no police corruption. Basically he says we have been fed a line of BS, and that the illegal aliens we have here in the US are the unwanted element in Mexico.
