The Holy Spirit is God living inside of me, given to me by the Lord. Jesus said in John 14:26 "He will teach you all things". The "He" here isn't masculine nor feminine. I think because it is referenced as "He" people mistake it as a being. It is a spirit; a ghost. It is Jesus's ghost left for us.

No, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus' ghost.

The Holy Spirit is actually defined as the love between the Father and Son. The Father loves and gives himself to the Son, the Son in return, loves and gives himself to the Father. This love is so strong it is another being.

At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, came down and filled the Apostles. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit to guide us. This being is the love of God the Father and God the Son...and a gift to us. He is the third person in the Trinity.

Dear iamsaved,

First let me say that you have to look at all Scriptures, and the Scripture do tell us that in the last days people will fall away from the Lord.

The Scriptures also tell us in Colossians 4:2-6 to have our words always seasoned with grace. i don't undersand the purpose of asking such a question-- if it is to encourage Christians to be filled with the Spirit- why not encourage your brothers/sisters in Christ- instead of criticizing them and opening the door for non-believers to criticize them as well.

The Holy Spirit dwells in the believer when they accept Christ. It is true that believers can quench the Spirit and i think more and more we are finding that people are being conformed to the pattern of the world, instead of being re-newed in their minds by God's word.

The Scriptures tell us that more and more people will begin to lose their first love. And for those who have maintained it- they must share Christ's love but also do so with the wisdom that the Holy Spirit brings. Remember it is the Spirit that convicts people of their sins- not us pointing it out on a public forum. If you're purpose was to encourage and stimulate believers to follow Christ- i don't think it was a very "Christ-like" way to do it.

Kindly,

Nickster

the moment a person acknowledges he is a sinner, repents and makes a knowing, conscious decision to pray to accept Jesus Christ as His personal Lord and Savior (justification), the Holy Spirit comes into that person and resides in him as he grows and matures in his Christian life (sanctification). the Holy Spirit promised never to leave nor forsake until the Christian goes home to be with the Lord for all eternity (glorification).

here's something i'd like to share with you as well:

In Christianity, the Holy Spirit is part of the trinity of God. He is not anybody's "ghost"; if so, Jesus would have said so.

If you're talking about speaking in tongues, the Bible specifically says not all Christians will speak in tongues and don't have to. Different people have different gifts, including the guy who does an awesome job putting out the chairs before the service and the lady who runs the daycare for the kids.

They are not filled with the holy Spirit because they remain attached to their old sins. The Holy Spirit cannot abide in a soul filled with sin.

It is one thing to say you are a Christian. It is far more difficult to actually be one

Because most people who claim to be Christians (or just Catholic) had this religon forced on them by their parents hence they just could not be bothered with any Holy Spirit

Because so many have been filled with bullshit by their church that there's no room left for any Holy Spirit.
