i HATE my bedroom right now. my mother painted it yellow when i was gone on a trip, and ever since i came home, i've certainly let her know that i very much dislike it. i cant STAND IT!!! ahh i dont know why but i really hate yellow rooms. so i live in a pretty large house, and theres about two empty bedrooms in my house that have nothing but junk in them. there's one downstairs in the basement and i would kill to live down there, so i asked if i could move my stuff down there and sleep there and stuff, and my parents said no!!! i asked them why and they just said that "i said so." i really want to sleep down there. i'd bring all my stuff down there myself, without asking my parents to lift a finger. nobody has been in that room in years, so i see no reason whatsoever why i cant just sleep there. is there some reason my parents aren't letting me that i dont understand, or are they being totally unreasonable? and also, what can i say to get them to let me?

and also, i think i might just bring my stuff into there anyways. even if they do protest and get mad or whatever. i deserve enough independance to pick what room i sleep in at night!

Maybe your not getting the okay to move into the other room because you have made such a stink about your current room. It sounds like your mom was trying to do something nice and it backfired. But being a pain about it sure won't win you any brownie points and you may find your living with a yellow room for a long time. I don't care for yellow myself, but I sure wouldn't make my mom feel bad about it. It sounds like you need to apologize and get over it for a while, once things have calmed down, (at least a couple months) then ask again but don't mention the color.

I'm guessing that your parents don't want you far away from them in another part of the house. If there were an emergency like a fire, they might not be able to get to you. They might let you do it when your older.Why don't you talk to your mom about painting your room another color. She probably thought you would appreciate having your room painted. If she says no then, cover as much wall color as possible with posters.

It could be that they dont feel like a room in the basement is a safe place for you to be. Also if it is only the color of your bedroom why not just repaint it?

maybe because if you are upstairs it makes it harder for you to sneak out a window ..lol
