Where do you want to start , and I'll show you what that bull was all about .Christians are not under the law but have grace the laws you stated from the old testament where for the Jews seeing as how Christians were not around then .Now for your info there was verses taken out of context and played with why because they dont read properly what did the verse above and below say to explain it . the women with long hair , they were not to flaunt it or to draw atten . so thats why hair was covered . Funny they say men shouldnt have long hair well every picture of Christ and apostles they have long hair ???.if you would read on, it also said of which we dont have any custom , in other words it was ok .The bible can be taken literaly even though there are many symbolic verses and things it points to .Now you say your a baptist , should we take that literal or symbolic . I am a Christian that attends a Baptist Church , for those who care. Now the other thing is I doubt that link was really Jerry Falwell from Liberty Baptist because he wold have explained all those verses correctly , and not use them to bash

Scripture also says there is no male nor female...

Galatians 3:28 There is no Jew or Greek. There is no slave or free person. There is no male or female. Because you belong to Christ Jesus, you are all one.

The answer is quite simple... CONTEXT. Look at what was going on in Corinth that led Paul to instruct NOT JUST WOMEN, but 4 distinct groups within the church to "shut up" in the assembly.

Luke tells us Philip the evangelist had 4 DAUGHTERS THAT PROPHESIED. (Acts 21:8-9) The FIRST Gospel sermon ever preached quotes Joel predicting an end to male dominance in terms of humans' relationship with God:

Acts 2:17 He said,
“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Holy Spirit on all people.
Your SONS AND DAUGHTERS will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions.
Your old men will have dreams.
18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on those who serve me, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN.
When I do, they will prophesy.

So, there is NO male or female before God. BOTH men and women have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve the Lord's church... There must have been some special circumstances that led to the special command in 1Corinthians...

The broad focus of the last half of 1Corinthians is the need to conduct the assembly in a way which does not place unnecessary obstacles before those who visit in the assembly.

I'm a Independent Fundamental Baptist. Seen to me that the person who wrote it is because they are a "cherry picker" themselves. They clearly shown that they have "very little" knowledge about the Bible to try to make it say what they are saying.

For instants:

But if ... evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..." Deuteronomy 22:20,21

Deuteronomy was written for the people who were under the Law. We are under Grace. The truth is, if we were still under the Law, most people on Yahoo answers would have long been put to death by stoning.

"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." Romans 11:6

Up Date:

the only 1 hobo (4 below me), the pictures that we see with Jesus with long hair were made on the behalf of the vatican. Many of us have seen pictures with Jesus with long hair for so long we take it for granted that the Bible speaks against men having long hair. Religion contradicts the Bible (AV1611), the Bible doesn't contradicts itself.

I am also a baptist...

However, just remember that the Old T. is considered to have been "nailed to the cross" (done away with)

The verses in Deuteronomy are outdated...

Actually, there are some denominations who do take this literally. Women *do not speak* in church or in Bible study. These are the same denominations who do not allow women to cut their hair, or to wear anything but skirts.

Scary.

The bible obviously isn't meant to be taken literally.

Only weak minded people think it is. There are too many exaggerations in it for anyone of intelligence to believe.

Interesting article..

The real question is:
Are we under the Law or under grace?
If we are under grace, is the Law still applicable?
Are there consequences if we ignore the Law?

The answer to all three is YES!
We are to walk by the Spirit....
