I am 5' 4" and weigh about 157lbs. I don't look terribly fat, but I know that I am. I was about 30lbs lighter a little over a year ago due to prozac, but once I went off the medicine and became, pregnant I put on the weight immediatley. I am attempting to diet and exercise, but I am scared that my effort will be worthless because I can't seem to lose weight anymore. I tried Nutrisystem hardcore with excercise for two months and GAINED two pounds. I'm at my wits end with frustration and really want to take the weight off once and for all. PLEASE HELP!

Can you say if the increase of two pounds was due to fat or possibly the increase in muscle due to your exercise programme? (This is not exactly a large weight gain)

You can try any number of miracle diet solutions - there are a whole lot out there and the number is climbing all the time - why - coz they don't work for everybody.

You have to judge if you can lose weight in isolation or if you need the support you can get from a group.

Changing your diet and your level of exercise may work wonders for you, but if you need help to strengthen your resolve - go along to a weight watchers group of something similar and gain strength from their support.

The thing is to lose the weight gradually - I'd also say stay as far away from the pills and potions that promise immediate results.

Don't get frustrated. Keep positive. A lot of people have problems dieting and they come here or other places for answers and most of the people who give you these answers you seek don't know anything about dieting or getting into shape. I know a lot, but I'm not a certified anything! What I always say is best for people is to do the research themselves. Arm yourself with knowledge through education because if you go in flying blind, you're going to crash. This website helped me out a lot. Look it over. Find exactly what you're looking for and stick to it! But most importantly, make sure you know what's going on. Educate yourself. That's the most important thing. Good luck to you!

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. Just please be patient for ppl seem to email me for advice on this, I will reply, don't worry! ~Adia
