My brother recently found a Poodle with tags. Her name said Madam Chloe King, but when he called the owner it was an old lady who wasn't sure what to do. He thinks she may have had alzheimers. Anyways he gave her t us, but we would really like to get papers on her. Is it possible to get papers on her without having any info? Also, how can you tell if the dog has had babies, or has been fixed. Her nipples seem to stick out some, but not saggy at all. Any info would be great!

To those of you who can't read...We did call the number, and the lady wasn't sure of what was going on. She told us she had gotten lose before with her granddaughter, and not to worry about it. She was 15 miles away from her home. I'm guessing they didn't care that much. They weren't even that concerned. LEARN TO READ!

Your brother called the owner and because she was confused he decided he should keep the dog??? That's stealing! What if the poor old lady only had one companion in the whole world and you people (who don't even know her) randomly decided that you would be better owners and kept her dog!

At least track down her phone number, find out where she lives, talk to the police, talk to the animal shelter, have the dog scanned for the microchip... do something to track the lady down!

She put a tag on her dog for a reason! Maybe she's distraught because she's missing her dog!

You need to talk to the lady and/or her family before deciding you should keep her dog!

Besides, she's the one who has the papers. If she wants to give you her dog she'll give you its papers too!

Please do not steal this old lady's dog!!!

Don't worry about the papers. They are probably just AKC. If the dog was a quality pure breed she wouldn't be out on the streets.

The papers don't really mean much unless they are Pedigree Papers, showing the blood lines of the breeder or kennel. A Pedigreed dog will cost a couple of thousand dollars & would be kept up. So you probably have a pet quality dog & if not spayed, should be.

Take her to a Vet to see if she is micro chipped. Do try to find the owners, someone may be heart broken.

She may have been stolen & escaped & is looking for her home.

Put an ad in the newspaper, call animal control, humane society, some of the rescue places, Vets in your area to see if someone has reported her missing. Leave all the information with who ever to talk to so if someone is looking for her they will be able to find her.

if she even has papers, the owner would have to sign them over to you. Its not likely this poodle has papers. Was there a rabies tag with the vet's name or number? You could call the vet and ask if she's been spayed or not. Sometimes if you look, you can see a spay scar, but not always. There's no way to tell for sure if the dog has had puppies.

No. IF the dog had papers, the former owner would have to sign them over to you.
Take the dog to the vet of course!!!! They can shave and see if the dog has been spayed. You need to get the dog vaccines also, because without a current rabies certificats, the dog is considered unvaccinated.

you can call the lady again and ask for the papers. i agree with one of the previous answerers, technically, unless she specifically said you could keep her, it is stealing.

you can check her underbelly and see if there's a faint scar left from being spayed. you may not be able to see anything. either way, if you are keeping her, you probably want to take her to a vet to be sure that she is fully updated on shots and vaccinations. you don't want to come home to a parvo dog, or a rabid dog.

not to mention, if she was 15 miles from her original home, she may now have worms, or heart worms, and all manner of fleas and ticks, or ear mites.

Call animal control and tell them you want the dog. Let them try to find the owner and you can then addopt it. Offer to foster care for the dog. Take her to a vet to see if she has a microchip. If so she may be registered with the AKC

Did you try calling the number on the tags a second time? It is possible there are other residents in the household and one of them is the rightful owner of the dog. Please do the right thing and call again. Someone might really be missing their animal.

to get the dogs papers she would have to b legally signed over to u from prev owners , and the papers then sent to the kennel club , and registered in your name . . the only way to know if she has been speyed is to wait and see if she come into season or not , if she does then u will know . as for having already had puppies only the owners can reallt tell u that or the kennel club , to see if she has had any registered puppies
